For me, the iPower 1000 watt digital ballast is one of the more affordable options on the market. It has a built-in microprocessor that automatically detects MH and HPS bulbs, negating the need for an additional switch or ballast and keeping your lighting system simple.

When reading grow light ballast evaluations, the top-rated digital ballasts on the market are often Vivosun, SolisTek, and Phantom.
Vivosun is generally a product I appreciate due to its value. It is one of the more affordable alternatives available. It still provides top-notch customer service, though. And even if it lacks sophisticated detecting techniques and other clever features, it still serves my purposes perfectly.
