Hello everyone, I'm a newbie grower but smoked for a while. 40 something now and sick of having to deal with ever younger and unscrupulous people to get a smoke and being forced to run the risk of being busted and branded a criminal, being ripped off (£10 gm sometimes!?!?) etc etc. I'm not hurting anyone else and just want fuzziness and pain relief! Is that such a sin?

As much as I'm new to growing, I'm quite tekkie and can work out the setting up and ph levels etc if i know im going down the right route and I'm thinking this way....

Century bloom dual chamber tent so I can clone and germinate, 1x1x2m with all the filters etc.

400w light for flowering, dunno yet for 24 hour.

Soil with auto water/feed like a quadgrow or something?

Needs to be fairly low maintenance too as my pal at the grow site is pretty much the exact opposite of a tekkie :-)

Please help?

i dont do soil, i do aeroponic but for Veg i highly recommend CFL lights. theyre the best for that, then swith to the 400 watter. whatever it may be. :) the more CFL the better too.

focus, education and passion.. thats what ya need. what kind of meds do you want? i have grown in a 1m tent in soil, with good results, quality and quantity, my advise is read this site totally, madly, sponge like, use google to help the site engine aint good, treat it like science, be like god!
what kinda 400w is it? dual spec?

Sorry, forgot to say, looking for nice heavy, low maintenance indica really. Big yield is always a bonus of course...

Medijuana perhaps?

CFL i would use 100 watt bulbs (23 actual) or even higher wattage. look at my grow, in the begining. hell, look at it all. :)

ah, i see. be aware of what the seller says, its a business, for instance, most weeds if grown correctly and left to fully ripen will give a couch lock/pain relieving feelng. in my humble opinion. in other words, the seeds dont come with a pro gardener and all the optimum desirable needs are up to you, even the best weed in the world harvested to early or late will be shit. 9maybe im rambling.

Northern Lights strains are indicalicious and very forgiving. part of my first grow these many years ago.
For lighting, a good alternative to CFLs is a 400W metal-hydride HID lamp. I'm not knocking CFLs ... they work and can be rigged for cheap by someone handy. But for intensity, MH remains the current king. Plasma lights intrigue me mightily, but for now they are too expensive for prime time. Fun to read about though.
Another lighting type that I would look at hard are T5 aquarium bulbs. i'm currently putting together a small panel to use as a light for early veg and eventual clonework. A thread on this site that is chock-full of nutritious T5 info is "LED without LEDs".

...some random info/opinion for you.

i agree about the lights. i vegged in the cfl first for a month then MH for 2 weeks, then and now HPS. i was on a budget and still warming my wife up to the idea of growing our own. :)

I just assumed that amsterdammarijuana seeds was kosha as it were. Who ise best would you say? Sensi seeds?

Yeah' and thanks for saying it's all down to how good a gardener I am, no bloody pressure :-) I'll do lots of home work I promise!

To all of you who kindly took the time to reply,

I took a trip to a local hydro shop and came away being steered towards the relative ease of a flood and drain hydro system and the benefit of telephone guidance.

I just wanted to say however that I very much apreciate you taking your time to steer me in the right direction. I opted for an 8 pod system in a 2m tall tent, 600 hps and a 125w veg light. Just finished the rig and have some ladies (hopefully) germinating?!

I will keep you posted of progress if anyone is interested?
