Best Grow Tent for Breeding and Testing?

I would be leery of any tent claiming to be 100% light proof. They all have pin holes. Especially around the zippers and any stitching.
That being said I have been happy with both of my secret jardins. Have had and been using them going on 8 years now. I also know a few folks who love their gorilla tents.

Cheers :)
That was my first choice, but couldn't find them locally so decided to try some knock off-ish.

My last tent was a secret jardin from like 2011/12. Worked great for years, no rips or tears.

Delivery guy just showed up and no tent... so now I need to contact this stupid company again.

I'm really trying to be understanding with this company, as google says they are new. But man are they fucking me around.

Contacted them Monday asking why my shit hadn't shipped, they said by Tuesday. I got a tracking # get everything ready for my tent and the delivery guy shows up with half gallon starter pots in his hand wrapped in a garbage bag with a label on it.

I contact him again and I get the same response I got Monday "some things take longer to ship" I ordered it last Friday...

I don't believe they have the tent in stock and they are going to fuck me until they do or I call paypal.

Edit: Dude responded to emails super quick lol. Says I should have it by end of the week.

All of the tents leak light

What brand is it? So I know to stay away.
I'm not dealing with the brand directly but rather a new online retailer in Canada. I don't want to put them on blast just yet :) we'll see if they come through, weather has been absolutely shit up here so I gotta cut some slack.

Tent is a Unit Farm though. Hopefully it's as good as it looks and their discription says :)

Supposed to be 1680D Exterior, Mylar interior. Zipper Flaps. Steel poles and corners, double vent socks. the whole shebang for 250 for a 3x3. Looks like a gorilla at under half the cost they charge for them up here.

Medgrower1 uses one on youtube looks like a solid tent from his videos. He didn't really give too much of a review on it.

Definitely look very worthy of trying... Makes me almost wanna send my new 1 back & spend the 80$ more for their tent.

Apollo Horticulture are very decent tents and durable. Variety of sizesNicely priced. All tents have some issues. It's about budget, preference and a lil research.

Note* be meticulous on tent sizes being what they are. Some aren't true to specs.

I also just wanted to add not to dismiss building your own as someone else suggested. For many years we use to build ours out of black and white poly and 2x2s. It is super easy to do and one of the added bonuses in how we use to build ours, that tents do not have, was we would double wall them. We would put a full layer of poly on both sides of the 2x2. The layer of air in between would act as a great temp buffer much like a double walled greenhouse or four season camping tent.

Cheers :)

Gorilla grow tents. Durable, heavy duty. I own 2 5x5s and 1 2x4. Most any grow tent is going to work for you as long as it’s the right size . They vary in thickness of material and what their corners are made of .But the 1680d well stitched material like gorilla has is what you want so you don’t rip your tent sliding it over the frame during assembly ever. I would say make sure your tent has metal joints/corners and as heavy duty material as possible. And of course last but not least the zippers are second to none from what I have seen. They are MUCH nicer and durable than other people’s.

If your zipper breaks or your tent material rips , it’s probably beyond repair and basically useless. Make sure that doesn’t happen. Either by being safe and lucky with a cheaper tent or just going ahead and getting a gorilla or something similar for more. And those things can happen to any tent I’m sure so you just have to be careful with them when you’re zipping/unzipping them and putting them together.

I got the tent, very heavy fabric for sure. Was a work out putting it together lol.

I'll throw up some pics later I gotta rebuild my lights, my idea to make them fit didn't work so I gotta go back to the drawing board and build a new frame for my Cobs.

Smoke and coffee break then a trip to Homedepot should have pics up later tonight.

Easy to put together as far as tents go though. A little lady might have a hard time takes a bit of elbow grease with this heavy ish.

Ok so my verdict is I think they are worth the price. They seem super thick. Very minor light leaks, pretty much the same with alll tents, minor zipper pin holes, most of which is covered by the flaps.

My one issue is it has 5 zippers to get the doors open instead of 1 large zipper, or 2 curved zippers. I kinda figured this was the case when I ordered it though. This is a money saving step I think, you get what you pay for in this case.

The tray isn't great. But I don't like the fabric trays anyways, they are shit lol. I'm not going to subtract points for that :) I plan on getting a 3x3 Hydro tray with no holes and using it as my floor. This will also help the lower door issue....

The bottom has a little flap that covers the hole left by the gap in the zippers (about 1.5 inches), while the top has a long flap that covers the entire zipper. The bottom needs some extra velcro or something, as there isn't enough material to get a good light seal IMO, that's the one glaring fault with this tent. Few dollar fix if you don't have it lying around the house.

Mylar is way more reflective than my Reflectix i've been using for years and probably needed replaced. Lights should work a lot better.

Took me a crazy amount of time to rebuild this light lol. I'm spent mentally and physically.

All in all I'll give it an 7 or 8/10 would have been a 9/10 if it wasn't for that bottom flap I would have paid $10 more in retrospect to have the same option as the top with the long flap, 10/10 if the zippers didn't have the pin holes.

I fully plan on going and checking out a Gorilla and seeing how they compare. I really can't tell you the material is what they say it is, as I have never felt a Gorilla's Fabric. So I'll check one out this weekend and if I have anything to update I will then.

The main things is it doesn't stink! lol.

It seems to be a giant leap above my last 2x2 secret jardin.

my photo's are useless my camera has like dead pixels or some shit all over the photo's even my solid closet doors have pin hole light leaks apparently lol

I put duct tape over that bottom light leak on mine I think it’s like that with all the tents. And yeah as long as your tent isn’t open or doesn’t have a big hole in it; it will be able to create negative pressure with a fan and filter. No smells. And then use some ona nearby your room or some other Powerful fragrance. I’ve heard of people buying ona and leaving it around their house in little leftovers plastic car air freshener containers. That ona is powerful so it might be best to use it in small amounts for some people bc it irritates and is too strong for some people
