Best Lighting Times?

I have heard lots of different things from 10/10 to 20/4, I have even heard that 14/10 is the best, but I am still not sure and don't want to hurt the plants by changing the lighting every week. Currently my baby's are on 18/6, but they have not all out of the ground. So my question is, What is the best lighting time for growing my "plants"?

In the veg stage, you can keep the lights on 24/7. 20/4 is great - I prefer 18/6, so you can just stick with that.

Plants can handle a lot of light in this stage, so the more the better. Giving them more than 6 or 8 hours of darkness a day is not ideal. And what do you mean by 10/10? 10 hours off, 10 hours on?

As a general rule anywhere between 24 to 18/6 is good practice in veg stage, especially for newer growers.

***A Possibly Interesting Side Note***
As for the cycles closer to 14/10 that you've been hearing about it's based off the idea that that the "homogeneous" conditions of indoor growing are causing the degradation of genetic characteristics between Sativa and Indica strains. As a result breeders and connoisseurs are trying to mimic the light cycles they are exposed to in nature, Sativa being close to the equator have almost equal light and dark times with very small change between veg and flower. Indica being further from the equator have longer light times with a larger shift towards dark time during flowering. But I Digress these practices are of little concern for the average home grower.

SORRY 12/12 not 10/10 and yea one of my friends told me it was a good, i wasn't too sure on what they said. thank you for your replys i will keep with my 18/6 lighting plan. Also thank you for the side note about the 14/10 lighting I thought I heard something about it but wasn't sure as of what it was about or for the normal green or something else. As for the flowering should it go to 16/8 or lower/higher?
