What is the best string, rope, material to use for wicking water into pots? What's worked for you?

the best of the best has to be sash cord

as used by guys who repair those 1880's type (sash) windows with weights hidden in the sides

it a cotton rope 8mm dia.//er quarter inch?

good luck

ps any natural fiber will go
