There are thousands of strains of this weed some grow well with little to no assistance, others need a lot of TLC and know how.

Well, in a way you are right..

Modern MJ in my opinion has hybridized and crossed so many times with very little attention given to the hearty nature of a landrace. And I agree with you, the way some people treat MJ grows is hilarious.. couple of plants treated like newborn children..

Anyways the OP was asking the best nutes in a hydroponic mix. I have a few plants in soil and I dont use salt based stuff or anything out of a bottle, I try to use natural inputs. I have to cheat a bit, I couldn't find any bat caves near by.

So you don't ph your water?

And guano contains uric acid and phosphoric acid, both of which break down to salt.

Not to mention the potash, which is literally a compound formed out of potassium chloride. Chloride. Crystals. Salt.

Saying you don't use salt-based stuff is literally like saying you don't use nutes. Everything breaks down into a salt, people just have a ooga-booga reaction when you say "salt-based synthetics"...

I guess the new fad of saying "I'm organic!" makes the ego swell a little though...

In true organics all that is needed is pure RO Water but to get your soil to that point takes time

I don't have a problem with people saying they like to grow organic. I try to stay as organic as possible, as I am sure most people would try to do if the option were available.

It's the "I don't use any salt based stuff" that is misleading and ultimately false. Even in an amended super soil, your plants are still breaking nutes and trace elements down into salts...

Just my opinion but in true organics its the micros and beneficial s doing all the work
and salt products kill them
and I believe your not entirely right about your salt comment
but I could also be wrong as im not a trained botanist

When a plant breaks down potassium, sylvite is created. I don't care how you add the potassium... bat shit, potash, or your favorite hydro mix... it still breaks down into salt in the soil. If the soil has potassium, it's going to slowly start creating salinity in the soil. That's just how chemistry works.

In some organic super soil formulas you use epsom salt... so thats true.

I think the point is not to use synthetic inputs... Im of the opinion that its easier to overload a system with salts with a man made nutrient. Not saying you cant do the same with organics and hot fertilizers. I seem to get a better flavor or less of a scratchy throat when running "organics".

in this THEORY any salts are harmful to the microlife (unsure about the epsome) hes pretty clear he HATES salts

like I said no hate just trying to open doors

Nope, I dont PH my water, its taken care of a light top dressing of coffee grounds. PH probe reads around 7. Coffee PH is around 4 ish.

I dont have a negative reaction to salt based nutes, my hydro setup is running Flora Nova and theres salt in there.
I realize what going on.

I use lagenbenite in my mix so the potassium is potassium sulfate, not chloride. I'll have to see how that breaks down in my mix. I'm trying to avoid chlorides if possible.

Yeah I'm trying the organic route... its been years since I've dived back in.. Feedback has been positive, nice smooth smoke. Selling point?.. Eh.. mebby..

currently I run aero and DWC my buds are sweet to the last puff and not harsh either

Potassium sulfate is literally a white crystalline salt. You are literally using a salt to avoid using salts.

I didn't join the forums to argue with anyone, but seriously, please stop arguing with science.

If you add potassium, salts are going to be created.

If you find me a way to add potassium to your soil without producing a salinity, I will be the first to approve your research for peer review so that you can claim your upcoming Nobel Prize.
