Its the number of "arms" that come off the main stem in the percolators..some have a few,others a lot..mine has 12,but only one percolator chamber..of course there's all sorts of contraptions,add-on to increase all this jargon..I k.I.s.s...easier cleaning,and I usually smoke alone,so a simple bong is fine w me..

Hold your arm straight down,with all five fingers held "clawed" like you're holding an invisible baseball...
