Best reflector

I use the xxxl hood, also, with the 6" port. I also have a 1000w (+ turbo charged 1100w) ballast, which both are definitely overkill in my 4x2 tent.

BUT! The nice thing about buying more than I needed, was that I don't need to upgrade when I get a bigger space. Just food for thought, I'm sure there are a lot of other options that are a lot more cost effective.

But if you ask me, if there's one thing that you want PLENTY of, its light. It will only translate to bigger, denser buds. The my ballast runs at 400, 600, 1000, or 1100 and I've been running it at 1000 with no problems, but I do have air conditioned intake.
Is th xxxl hood sealed nicely? Where is the cored at on top or bottom? Would it be good for a 600w in a 3x3

I wouldn't get an xxxl in a 3x3.. the thing is 32 inches or something like that. doesnt leave much room for ducting. They are meant for a larger foot print. You don't want a bunch of spread in small grow. You want more of a beam of light, like a flashlight, focusing on the grow. Get too big of a reflector and it lowers your intensity. Basically you are losing light.

I have a radiant. I feel that it doesnt fill my whole 4x4 tent but I think it would be prefect for a 3x3. I personally like the smooth reflector over of the dimpled. The blockbuster would be a good choice as well, but probably better for a 4x4.

Spend good money on a reflector. It's one of the most pieces of hardware you use.

I have used many hoods and read lots of reviews, the blockbuster is one of the best hoods out there for growing in a square pattern. I was soo impressed I bought 14 of them.

Just make sure you get the "new" design. The one that has the upgraded seals and the little cable that holds the glass when your changing bulbs.

FYI... I have never had a sealed hood that actually sealed :(. The all leak a little so if your dealing with smell issues be prepared to tape them.

Whoa there fella. Don't be using the foil tape to seal your hood. (I'm talking about taping the glass to the frame and the frame to the actual hood. I used foil tape once...what a complete cluster fuck!!! It took hours and hours to get it off when I sold those hoods

Blue painters tape, that is your friend. And anothe little hint, the blue tape will catch infinitely more fungus gnats than the yellow cards will.
Cheers

Yup. It's blue masking tape that stays stuck yet is made to be easily removed.

When you have a lot of hoods they are virtually impossible to seal :(

I'm thinking about adding a thin layer of window sealant to mine and see how that does. With my hood fans running when my co2 burner shuts off the numbers immediately start to drop. If I turn them off the co2 lasts for almost an hour. :( 14 blockbusters though..that is allot of tape :(

Wow I don't have a massive setup like that. Though it would be nice ha... I only got a 600w light. I wanna do a setup in my basement. But it is only as tall as I am, about 6 ft and its very moist and cold down there so I would have to get a dehumidifier and If I did setup down there, I would do a 1200w in like a 3x9 area. Not sure i was just down there the other day thinking about it,

I would do a 3.5 x 7 scrog with two or three plants in that space Two 600's overhead.
The basement is huge, I can do whatever size I'm just a bit worried about electrical costs because the outlets down there have never been changed and the wire hasn't been either. It's th same as we moved in. The rest of the house has had wire re done. So before anything I would want a dedicated outlet down there first... By anyways, I'm just gonna go with a blockbuster. I gotta get my ballast or timer issue cleared up first.

aren't the blockbusters and the xxxls essentially the same? I have never seen a blockbuster in person.

No. The blockbuster is a normal sized hood that casts a square pattern. The xxl are, IMO pretty damn stupid unless maybe your cranking huge SOG grows. They are fucking ginormous, they just don't make sense really. A reflector that is twice the length of the arc tube? Gimmick
