Hi all,

I am new to all this and since I joined this forum I have read great information.
I am currently tranforming my old pc case into a grow box and will be posting it on the grow journal! Anyway back to the topic..... anyone know of any good strains that help anxiety and stress?

Thanks

strawberry cough is said to be anti anxiety and good for depression. very nice loking strain very intrested myself. its from dutch passion. also just look for strains that talk about having an uplifting buzz or happy high :joint: vague....but hope that helps, peace.

im not 2 sure a strawberry cough plant would fit in a pc box they are mostly sativa..

when it comes to an anti anxiety strain it depends on the person some find sativa better wit its energtic high, some find it racey and have bad paranoia on it..

indica is chilled out relaxed stone, prob wont b thinking of great thingsa to do and actually doing them but ull b calm and it would fit into ur box i guess, if u can try a sativa hybrid a indica hybrid and see what works for u

Like Cannabis Corpse said Strawberry Cough is fantastic to relieve anxiety, but it's not potent. Crosses like Dutch Passions are great for anxiety but no potency nor strawberry taste. You get a very clear headed good mood anti anxiety high, almost like you're not high at all. And that's the problem.

If you want something more potent Elite's Super Strawberry Diesel will be a 7.75 - 8.5 on potency and have a consistent and pronounced strawberry diesel flavor. Great for depression as well.

I've found that SSD stays shorter than SC. Like Caliboy said, SC tends to stretch it's legs a bit.

Subcool's is a medical strain breeder with some of the best genetics at the lowest prices. Jack The Ripper is listed as good for anxiety, most of the others look like they'd reduce anxiety.

How are you going to grow - SOG, budcycles? What are the inside demensions of the box?

Here's some pics of a screenless scrog I'm running now, the last time I did it I got the best buds I've ever grown. Keeps the height down and one plant would fill a computer case.

I've found Pure Power Plant to be pretty uplifting without anxiety for a Sativa Dominant Strain, good for depression, seasonal affective disorder/winter blues. For anxiety you most likely want to stay Indica Dominant and you might not need a high potency strain to do what your looking for. I'm a psychotherapist by trade and I'm very aware of how smoking/wat strains affects mood. For anxiety Sensi's Northern light is not only an outrageous high but extremely euphoric and anxiety reducing for sure as well as helping with breaking periods of insomnia. But if you suffer from anxiety find yourself an EMDR therapist and you can just about cure your anxiety. Goodluck

More than anxiety I would say I have hyper tension. Since I stopped drinking alchohol 2 years ago I have improved big time and much more relaxed and not worrying about stupid shit and not have to wake up in the morning trying to remember what the fuck a did.
I dont go out to clubs and stuff anymore because I know that will lead me to drinking again and I dont wanna go there again. That is why I wanna try smoke some weed at home lay back chill relax and watch a movie.

That is why I asked about which strain would be best for anxiety..... I dont wanna smoke something that triggers those old feelings I used to get.

Would Strawberry Cough or Northern light be ok to grow in a pc case or do they grow to big?

Thanks for the help everyone

Ducth Passion Strawberry Cough grows tall; I've grown PeakSeedsBC and it only stretched from 16" at the end of veg to 22" in flower (double topped). NL is virtually odorless for marijuana, got 2 - 2 1/2 oz from a 22" plant, low-moderate potency on my grow. Sensi is suppose to have a potent NL, I haven't tried it yet.

You sound like you're doing a guerrella grow, be mindfull of the stregnth of the odor of each strain. Why do you want to grow in a PC case? It will be hard to get any yield worth growing in a space that size.

Slimweed if you have the time read through this article on the effects of different strains of marijuana - it'll give you a better idea of the type of stone/high you're after and we'll be able to make more educated suggestions.

The first spectrum to consider is the "up and down". "Up" refers to the stimulating aspects of cannabis, while "down" refers to sedative qualities. Up pot tends to liven the disposition and stimulate the emotions, inspiring sociability and talkativeness. Down pot tends to produce sedative and depressant effects. Some people refer to stimulating pot as being a "head" high and sedative pot as being a "body" high, yet although partially true this is also misleading.

Body and head highs are the next spectrum of the cannabis experience. Generally speaking, head highs are stimulating and body highs are sedative, but not all are. Some body highs are stimulating and some head highs are depressing. I once sampled a terribly paranoia-inducing head pot that inspired great couch lock qualities. I called it Boo-Goo.

Early to late harvest will affect the head to body spectrum expressed by a certain plant, with the later harvest tending to produce more body and sedative effects. However, I believe that certain aspects of this spectrum to be genetically inherited.

Next to consider are aspects of duration. Some cannabis tends to be short-acting (15-30min) whereas other varieties last much longer (6-7 hours). Once again production, harvesting and curing techniques can influence aspects of this spectrum, but much of this effect is inherited.

For me, the most important aspect of the cannabis experience to consider is tolerance. This refers to the product's ability to provide the same experience via the same amount over time – the burnout factor. By "over time" I mean the long run: months, years, decades...

Most of the cannabis I see on the market today has a terrible tolerance factor – a quick burnout time with the product's novelty lasting less than a week. Luther Burbank's model of breeding needs to be employed here and no expression of tolerance to your product is to be tolerated. An example of where intolerance to tolerance is tolerated – enough already!

Another aspect of tolerance is "ceiling." This refers to how high (or far) one is capable of going with the variety. How many hits can you consume until more hits are unnoticeable? Most indicas have a low ceiling of less than 10 hits. For me that's usually around 5 hits in one smoking session. If I smoke more than 5 hits of a strong indica I will either not notice the post-ceiling hits, or I will fall asleep.

Some sativas have a very high ceiling, or seem to have none at all! This means that the more you consume, the higher and further you go. Oaxaca Highland Gold, Black Magic African, and Highland Thai were some of the herbs I've tried with very high or no ceiling.

The final aspect of mental effects to consider when sampling strains for breeding is the tendency to produce anxiety. Certain strains of cannabis increase anxiety while others decrease it. This is also true for other emotions, which some strains may suppress while others may augment their intensity. Generally stimulating and head varieties are the ones that can produce unwanted anxiety, but this is not always the case. Quickly cured buds or an over-early harvest are contributing factors to anxiety-increasing pot, but this trait is also genetic in nature.

Norther Lights is around 80% Afghani so any mostly Afghani variety will give you what you want. Also make sure you let it cure properly and don't smoke it too soon off the vine so it doesn't cause anxiety.
