What are the dimensions of your cab? How many watts and what type of light are you running? What medium are you growing in? Any pics of the setup?Awesome info everyone. I have two auto grows under my belt, both in the new Armoire. Each yielded 3-4 ounces. One was a purple from the AutoFlower store (Green Goddess Armoire store) and the other was Banana Blaze. Both were good, but not great.
The idea of autos in the Armoire is you don’t have to guess when to flip to fill the space correctly. Run the lights for like 16 hours and do a lot of LST to keep and even canopy and to keep branches from reaching the light.
I grew for years starting in the 80s and always used regular seeds until fems got good. I always thought regular seeds were better, but in the end used mostly feminized seeds. Maybe this is the same situation with autos getting better. I could easily do photos in my space with just a little more work, but I’d like to give a really good auto a shot!
I had similar experiences with watching sectors of the industry improve over time. What caused me to lean into autos was they fit my climate's outdoor season much better than photos, finishing outside in August when it's warm and dry is a game changer. And I got onboard right when Mephisto was starting to produce quality stuff, if I had tried to make that transition a few years earlier, it would have been much less successful. My first run with autos in 2018 I tried some Sweet Seeds, Barney's Farm, and Fast Buds, and none compared with Mephisto (Alien v Triangle) I ran alongside them. I'm sure they've all gotten better since then, but at that time there was no comparison.
I had a few really good seasons with autos outdoors, and then started growing them indoors (I had been growing photos indoors and out). The last photo run I grew was in 2019. I'm mostly growing Meph, RocBud, Dutch Passion, and Fast Buds these days. I only grow about a dozen plants per year, so I don't have as much opportunity to try new breeders or strains as I'd like. If I could grow 30 plants per year, I'd be trying everything. As it stands, at this point I have more seeds than I have time left to grow them. Friday I'll soak some seeds for a winter run.
