Best time to lollipop? And Super cropping

At what stage is it considered a good or best time to lollipop?

I don't like to go hard with this technique, but now I'm running a LED and I expect to have less penetration, I think I might go ahead and clean up under the skirts a little.
I'm coming up to the end of first week since flipping to 12/12.

Should I have done it before flip, or should I wait until further into flower, do it now, or don't do it at all?

And I have noticed that since I have got back in the game, Super cropping is less mentioned and used. I used to get what I thought was good results when I did this (mostly to keep an even canopy).

Thoughts and discussion on this topic please

Supercropping is generally not advisable or possible around the end of week 2 of 12/12. I start supercrop and topping as soon as the first 5 finger leaf sets show. 3 times in a row and supercrop started as soon as possible.

I lollypop a few days before flipping. I just do the lower 50% and give them a few days to recover. TBH I have never really done super cropping, it always seems counter productive to me.
Cheers.
I might do a very light lollypop tonight.
The only reason I ever used supercrop for was when I was working hard for an even canopy and ran out of room with LST (had no places to tie to)
I never noticed any improvement or negative effects from the buds.

It's just one of the things I have noticed after a long stint from not paying any attention to growing, several years ago it seemed popular, and a lot of growers were showing off their knuckles etc....
Interesting how trends change.

I like to lollipop around week 3 after the stretch period. I wait to see what bud sites are going to fight for light. By then I get a better idea of which ones to discard. All the lower ones u know won't make it can go sooner.
Super cropping needs to be done in veg. I have like u, had no choice and bent branches cus of lack of space while flowering. That's not really the same. But in general I think supercropping and topping are a lil outdated imo. I still top or fim some plants but lst with the trelis gets just as gd results. Super cropping extends veg time everytime u do something that stresses the plant cus it needs to recover. Most would be taking 5-6 months a run and in that time frame could've had 2 runs and ultimately got more.

Sounds like sound advice, thanks.

First time for me doing an organic soil grow. Previous hydro grows the veg seemed a lot faster and probably more suited to heavier training techniques such as topping.
But with soil it makes sense to keep it minimal and avoid stress and extra healing time.

If I get one decent strain from this current grow, I will be happy. I'll be able to plan for a better yield with its clone for the next run.

The best time to super/monster crop is when you are growing large single scrogged plants. As in, when you need one plant to completely fill up the area with its canopy.

You're good to lollipop anytime-you can even do a little each day if you don't want to chop a ton of branches at once. If it's your first time, stick with just the leaves not getting any light in the bottom half of the canopy and all the little growing tips from that point to the media. Supercropping is different, you start it early and do it often and you'll end up with the strongest branches you've ever seen. Daily supercropping can slow down a fast growing plant's growth, along with the obvious benefit of keeping any stray branches that reach for the light, at canopy level. You can do it well into flower if you need to-if your light is at it's max height for example. I've found that supercropping into flower doesn't have much, if any, negative effect on yield. It's a fundamental basic technique that does multiple helpful things.

I just want to clarify, supercropping is pinching/bending a branch to move it to a new location-the "bend" is crushed inside, and it heals much stronger than it was before, like a broken bone. Monstercropping is just taking clones while in flower, usually after buds have begun to form-when placed back in 18/6, the clone will sprout multiple growing tips, creating wild little branchy plants that make great mothers, or of course, they are fun to flower too.

As far as lolly popping, I actually do that to my air layered clones before they even root out, and are cut away from the host plant. I take big clones though.. So, technically, before they are even born. Then, they get it again. :)

Cheers, yes, I was aware of the difference with super and monster crop, although I didn't know the full reason behind monster cropping, I always thought it was too much time and trouble, but now it makes sense, and something I will try.

Not my first grow, but first grow in this set-up and using soli/organics, and LED,
Although it does feel like my first grow at times with the rookie mistakes I've made, and seeing how things have changed.

I'm reasonably happy with the grow so far, I topped the back one early, and have done some lst. Far from a nice level canopy but not too bad. I could have vegged for longer and trained them better but was eager to get these out of the way (plus I need a decent smoke), and I have some plans for the next grow I'm really looking forward to.

There is always a learning curve when you change something major like light/media, but your leaves are looking nice and healthy. That's always my goal when I change things up, I just try to keep my leaves looking good, then nice buds will follow.

I like supercropping right around flip to get the canopy set close to even and then go from there. Since you mentioned it here's a pic of my current plants knuckle looking funky.IMG_20220920_154058370.jpg

Whoever claims topping and supercropping are outdated - please explain what replaced these? I do both and can keep any plant under 4’ before flip regardless of strain. I’ll guarantee I get more weight than than I would from plants that are untouched. It’s fast. Faster than LST for damned sure. Top, snap or twist and move on to the next one.
