Best way to germinate seeds?

I bought a DWC kit with rockwool cubes, but am unsure how to start the seeds in them. Online, it says to soak the cube for 24 hours then put in seed. The kit says to just put the seed in the cube, and put the cube in the net pot with grow rocks. I am confused on what to do, and am very scared of messing up, a tried and true method is what I need.

personally i hate rockwool for seeds, cuttings ok but seeds it seems to be way to still, but i like to either soak the seed in distilled water for 24 hours and stick her in jiffy mix or get a rag and soak em till there bout 1/2 in and then stick em in jiffy

well you can just do what i and a million other people do- the paper towel method: wet the paper towel, but seeds on it, fold the paper tower in half to enclose the seeds in there. put it in a dark spot and by the next morning, it will have sprouted.

Thanks for the advice, the paper towel method does seem simple and effective, but once the seeds have sprouted, do I insert them into the rockwool, or directly into the net pot with grow rocks? (I am using a DWC hydro system)

I use the paper towel method but with a 17" humidity dome and a germinating pad. I put the pad and dome in a dark warm place. I live in a doublewide and we have a small water heater so I put the pad and dome on the water heater. The dome stays at 75 degrees. I usually have close to a 100% success rate. I use fresh water and ph it to 5.0. which is what I soak my RW in. The germinating pad and dome have made the process very easy. My 2 cents, good luck

put them in rockwool first and place the rocks all around it.

thanks I now have the info I need! One more question, in a DWC system does the water level always need to be touching the net pots?
