best way to grow a sativa?

My first run was mostly indicas, 9 indicas and 1 hybrid. I experimented with LST and topping/fimming, which worked out pretty well (so far).

I'm about to start my next run-- blue dream, sour diesel #2, critical x super silver haze, ak 47, and pineapple kush. I've heard the blue dream and sour d are heavy yielders, and I'd like to get as much out of them as possible.

What do you think would be the best way to grow the sativas? I was thinking of mainlining, and scrogging has worked well for my indicas but I'm not sure how well it does with sativas.. any advice appreciated.

My current grow is a heavy sativa strain. I did it all for training, topping, LST and a screen over the pot for SCROG. Worked well so far and has kept it under control since I have a smaller space.

I really like the gro-thru supports, come in 12, 16 and 20" sizes and can move with each container.

everybody likes indica but me no no no only sativa im not only smoking sativa but if i could i will only smoke sativa its king high

Hi ThorG. Nice choice of strains you have decided on mate and yeh I've done sour diesel a few years ago outdoors and pulled of a pound dry,tho it had a life from seed of nearly 5 n a bit months. I have grown many many sativas as I lllove the girls and all mine have gone off with tying branches down to pots or pickets in ground if planted in the earth,sorta like lst'ing and also have tried fiming with great success. I'm sure topping lst'ing,fiming etc etc will all work as everyone will say as I don't really think sativas differ from indo's BUT honestly you can't go past a big fat chunky ass Christmas tree looking sativa in flower with none of the above teq's used
Just let it go wild n do its thing and you won't be disappointed . I like to let em just be and grow koz I usually end up with a 110-130g main cola . Good luck with your grow mate.

Daaaaaamn! Fuck yeah man, I would looooove to have a cola like that. I've heard people say that generally indicas yield more than sativa, which surprises me BC sativas grow so much taller.

But yeah, I've had great success with topping and LST (so far). I'm about 2-3 weeks in flower (honestly I'd have to check and see when exactly). They started showing pistils at different times, so they won't all be ready at the same time. I'm just gonna go by the trichromes to see when they are ready to harvest.

I'm just so anxious to start my next run. My girlfriend wants me to wait BC we are looking for a different house, but I don't want a huge gap in between my crops.

But yeah, I was thinking of either topping for 8 tops, or topping/fimming for 4 tops and then tying the tops down. My heaviest yielder (I'm almost certain, anyways) is a plant that I only topped once, and then let each top get about 12 inches before tying them down. I put it in a little scrog screen and its worked out really well.

My personal favorite way to grow a sativa is to SCROG the bitches! Usually quadruples my yield!

Looking good n healthy there Thor. Will be good to see how it turns out. Yeh I've heard the same too but have seen different with my own eyes in the sativa I've seen and grown. I think it's wise to get a jewellers magnifying glass with around I think the 30-60x zoom to check the tric's that's what I will be getting in next few days to check em but everyone has their own ways.
lol I hear ya mate my misses was the same but I just talked to her and explained and all was cool,sorted a plan out if it had to be used but ended up going smooth so was lucky there. I'm sure youse can figure out something crafty if u have to move after you've just started your crop . I mostly only grow sativas 70/30% indo ratio and I have never ended up with less then a pound per plant (outside) ,inside with a 8-9 week veg am hoping for 8oz's as this is my first indoor proper pro grow) but outside letting her go tying her down and only clipping her where or if she may need it is what ive noticed is what they like. topping and fiming will yield more as I have fimed my current redbeard x skunk (i will be updating my thread later with pics if you wana see how she is,fimed once and have 6 colas now. Hope any of that made sense I've just got in from 12 hr night shift and downed a few brewskies and am rooted. Good luck mate

Yeah man, definitely wanna see those pics! If you're yielding that much outdoors you should be able to get 8 o's off of a plant inside, my buddy gets 8 off of each plant indoors like clockwork.

I'm glad to know fimming/topping works well with sativas, it'll be my second grow and the first run is working out great. I'm hoping to get 3-4 o's off of that plant, and I have 9 more running (none quite that big) so hopefully all goes well. I'd be happy with a half pound this first time through.

No worries mate I hope she does you good and you yield some nice herb 3-4 sound do able. My brother grows with a 1000w and a 3 month veg with no lst'ing fiming or topping to his indicas and always pulls a pound off atleast so I'm thinking of changing over from 2 to 3 month veg and concentrating on 2 plants at a time. See how I go. I'll post pics of mine up tnite.

Cool, yeah my ladies are sleeping and I'm not trying to fuck them up by taking pics tonight (BC I had a herm early on), but now that mine are picking back up I'm really thinking a half pound might be within my grasp. I have ten plants; they aren't all very tall but most of them have at least 4 tops.

I had a pH problem that led to a magnesium deficiency and they're just now getting back in shape. I'll get some pics of mine tomorrow, I need to get some feedback on my grow anyways. I'm hoping the delay from the pH didnt cost too much time, and cause me to wind up with manners from flowering too long.
