bestvaluevax closed column system

anyone have any experience with bestvaluevacs closed column system? I just bought one to save time by blasting more material at once. I also hope to get a higher yield. Anyone have any advice on these systems? I've heard that you don't necessarily need a vacuum to get better results but how would one incorporate a vacuum onto the system? I know it would more than likely go on the top valve but I'm not sure how that would work.

I've also seen that closed columns require winterization prior to blasting.. Can someone explain this process?

the one i bought holds up to 90 grams so I figure I can get 4 runs out of a pound. ill post my numbers and results in the picture thread once i get everything started. thanks fellas

non of that made sense. I hope you were able answered your own questions because you didnt ask me any of those in the PM lol.

If you still have questions about the highlighted area I might be able to clear it up.

Hey bro, no winterization prior to blasting, not really how it's done.

As far as vac purging, which is a must(I've been told winterizing after blasting removes majority of butane but I have never winterized un purged stuff), you stick your patty in a container that's air tight and apply negative pressure by using a small pumop to suck the oxygen outta the tank basically.

Please search "Bho vac purging" on youtube.

You dont need a vacuum to make the system run youre basically working with a liquid solvent at a high pressure in a closed system. temperature differences are enough to control where the liquid flows to sue to pressure. Unless you have an actual big recovery tank and then i think you might need to use a gas like nitrogen in order to push solvent through sytem.
In terms of yield i have a friend who says he sees no difference and he claims it s a pain in the ass to get the extraction out of the chamber and doesnt like using ethanol to collect last bits. That said i think if you allow your solvent to soak in the material by closing off the valves for a while i think yields might improve though but other compunds like waxes chloro etc.. might increase, unless you could do it really really cold like 0F somehow.
Anyone got experience letting the material soak in the butane for an x amount of time at pressure?

I leave my material soak for. 10 mins to half an hour under presuure
Why those periods? do you find you get a higher yield by letting soak at pressure? Also when do you know that the tube is full of butane to shut off the valve?

im thinking of switching to closed column im trying to understand how to use it properly my understanding is i load it with material then hook vac up to top vac then vac the column for couple minutes then close valve unhook vac and thats when i start blasting with the cans until it wont accept more butane which is when i close valve and let soak 30min-1.5hours and then open bottom valve let drain? is this somewhat correct? also if i order one of bestvaluevacs closed columns what would you recommend doing to prepare the column before first use like is there any oils i should be cleaning off or what is winterization do i need to do that?

what i have noticed since using this setup is you don't necessarily need to hook a vac to it. i pack it, freeze it for 24hrs, then blast while the top valve is open then close it before switching cans. doing this creates pressure then once the tube is full, you let it soak then empty it out. i've been getting 4 grams off of shitty material which is nowhere near the amount i would have gotten open blasting thru a glass tube.

thank you for the info im gonna stick to open blasting for now. its working def dont want to waste money on a downgrade

make sure to differentiate between closed column and closed-loop... price jump there, and slightly different mechanism....

as far as the being told something about winterization before, its prolly a misunderstanding of having your product/extractor/butane @ freezer temps, to encourage more liquid longer and a cleaner extraction.... but thats just good prep work, not winterization...
