Looking for a good bho extraction tube. I've looked at the glass ones on amazon but a lot of reviews said they broke after 2 cans of butane. Im looking for something that will last and not break after a few uses.

I don't understand how someone could break a glass tube aside from dropping it. They are good for small runs, but they do suck to hold while you blast because they are heavy and get cold af after a few minutes. Steel columns are definitely the way to go. The downside is you always want to upgrade and it gets expensive.

I use stainless steel with pipe insulation wrapped around it.. Doesn't freeze your hands and virtually unbreakable..
That’s a good idea. I have a jacketed column attached to a jacketed shatter platter with a dome lid. So the only thing I’m touching is the cans of butane and the ball value handle. But subzero pipes used to be super annoying. I would wrap towels around it and wear gloves, but it was still an issue. Aside from freezing your hands off, the pipe is also a condensation magnet and the water can drain into your collection pot.

Condensation is the enemy of shatter. My current setup is basically a closed loop system, but I don’t recapture the butane. I’m waiting until I use up all of my cans before buying a tank of gas. I’m getting zero condensation, which I struggled to avoid for years before upgrading.

We both insulated and supported our tubes with a cross bar clamp, sitting on a modified bucket.

The bucket sat over two bain marie pots, one sitting inside the other. The outer one was filled with hot tap water and we dicharged into the center one. It was tall enough that the butane vapors kept the atmospheric humidity away from the freeze zone at the edges of the pool, so that water wasn't introduced when the frost at the edge of the pool melted.

When the visible butane boiled off, we added ethanol and stuck it in the freezer to winterize. You can however do an early pour onto parchment and finish in a vacuum chamber/oven.
