Big Buddha Cheese

I pulled a big one. Something I preach on to my helper all the time.
I let my coco get to dry, not to that point though, so was able to re-hydrate with only minor damage to the plants. Mainly looks like a Cal/Mag issue.
So I removed some of the damaged leaves, and began feeding with lite nutes/pH'ed solution with added Subculture M and Great White to rebuild the root system.
Still working on the changes to the drip system. Ordered parts are late and some where wrong and they had to resend them, hope to get everything today.
Am also worried about my pumps pressure.

Had a few issues so far, Cal/Mag and Epsom, when I first put the Canna Coco in the Smart Pots I flushed them with light nutes, Cal/Magic 1 ml/gal., Epsom at 1 gram per/gal.
Another thing was after transplanting wanting to get the roots to fill the pots I restricted the amt of solution they were getting and waited to long to re-hydrate, dried up too much, which caused the Cal/Mag issue show more prominently.
So I did two watering's two days apart and waited to long in between to water again, three days. When i watered yesterday I was with 0.65 EC and pH of 5.83, pot were not completely dry but could tell I had some damage. Removed the damaged leaves and have my drip set up now so hopefully will get back on track soon.

After leaf removal, this pic also shows the drip ring.

Finely got the drip parts I needed, but now I have some pressure issues.

What pumps are you guys using for your drip systems? Name and type of pump and a picture please if you have one.
Early next week they will be put on the screens to begin tie back.

Today I put the plants on the screens, kinda small to do it but will not hurt them.

Weekly picture update!
Got roots? Love it when this happens!

Tie back, some prior some after.

The last I grew Big Buddha Cheese, which failed do to irrigation failure, were very tall and more sativa like, these are very very indica.
20 days of veg, looks like it will be a 6 week veg period.

They have recovered from my neglect, letting them get too dry, and I am hand watering at present till I make the modifications to the drip system. Got most parts in needs adapters, and hose. Not sure on the adapters, ordered on Friday, should be here shortly. Cannot find a hose I want to use, looking for 3/8" ID. max pressure is 80 lbs. Anyone know where I can find about 20 feet please let me know.

OK, change in irrigation system. Day 25 of veg. Increased the rez from a two rez system with a capacity of 15 to 20 gallons to a single 35 gallon rez, running around 25 gallons in the tank.
Went with a 12V, 1 gallon per minute, @ 80 psi, 120V to 12V reducer and a 30 psi pressure reducer.

A bit cleaner setup, no more drip ring, using adjustable stream heads.

Got roots? Just love my Smart Pots, Canna Coco and Great White!

20181005_100022-jpg.1623846

Did a test run, this new system seems to wet the medium more even than past methods.
The plants are, as stated previously, very Indica dominate. One is 21 inches, two more of the 5 are just under that and the last two are around 16 inches. As fast as they took off after germination I expect them to be growing more.
If you have grown Big Buddha Cheese what are your experiences?

Pulled the plants from the tent today to do a bit of work on them, so this will be my weekly update.
Day 27 of veg.
As previously announced today I pulled the plants from the tent to do the second tie back.
Here they are from the backside.

Dialing the new irrigation system in, seems like these new head and pressure system distribute the solution so much more evenly. Thinking I am going to like this.

Rez change out today.

Had around 8 to 10 gallons remaining @ 1.18 EC & 5.89 pH. Did a system flush, first flush, 1.28 EC, 2nd 1.23 and the last was 1.19 EC and the 5.86 pH.

Did a good wash down with weak Clorox solution and refilled with 20 gallons of filtered rain water, 2 ppm. After adding Cal/Magic 18 ml, Epsom, 18 grams, A&B 4 ml/gal, Rhizotonic 138 ml, Cannazyme 170 ml and Drip Clean 8 ml. Final EC 1.15, will give it till tonight to stabilize before pH'ing the solution.

Added one ml extra of A&B to the rez and it's a little early to increase the rate at this time, so for each additional gallon added to the rez will be 3 ml A&B/gal till start of flower when it will be increased to 4 ml through flower. Using 3 ml/gal along with everything else my EC usually around 1.0, that's @ around 250 to 300 ppm, when increased to 4 ml it is around 400 to 450 ppm.

Day 30 of veg.

Today I rehung the lamps, both are now vertical.

In full Vertical mode now, had one vertical lamp and one horizontal lamp for the past 17 days.

I like the 3 gallons Smart pots but I think I will go back to the 2 gallon. Not really that much room in the tent for bigger plants, though these are not growing that tall so they should be alright. The main problem with the 3 gallon is the weight when wet, I cannot get in the tent so lifting and moving the plants is very difficult. It is tough n this ol' man!

We are at three irrigation cycles per day, 8 hours between cycles and the lights are on 24/7 now. Loving these new spray heads, good even spray pattern, very even watering. Running the 3:15 minutes per cycle and getting a good 30% runoff. Thinking I can reduce the times, can do seconds so will reduce 5 seconds at a time till we get closer to 30% runoff we are looking for.
Have done only tucking of the fans behind the screen so far but will do a fan defo later this week, only remove fans from well established branches. Will do a major defo in a few weeks, a week to 10 days prior to flipping to flower. This has worked well for me in the past. From what I am seeing by tucking the leaves behind the screen is the plant fills in with fans very rapidly, so I expect them to recover well from defoliation with the good root system we have established.
You can see what I mean, at this point the fans have only been tucked and the fans on the front of the plant are ready to go behind the screen. When we do that in a few day we will remove the fans behind the screen. Pic taken on 10/8.

Since installation of the new system on Sunday I have had two issues.
First was not really an issue just too much time set on the timer, since this is new it will take a bit to get it dialed in.
Second, I had three start times of 3:30 minutes each which was too much DTW, so we reset yesterday to three 2:45 minute times set on the system, 12 AM, 8 AM and 4 PM. I wanted to check it so i stayed up till midnight to watch it. It did not shut down after 2:45 min so manually shut it down.
Then at around 3 AM my GF wakes me up and ask it the system should be running, she said it sound like it had been on awhile. Well sure enough when I checked it, I immediately shut it down as it had dumped about 4/5's of the 25 gallon rez. I began to panic as I was expecting to open the tent and find that the catch tray has overflowed and flooded the tent. I rushed to open the tent to find that the catch tray was within 1/4 inch from overflowing. Got out the shop vac and sucked up most of it from the tray.
What I figured happened was when the 12 AM time did not shut down when it was supposed to and I manually shut it down that I must of accidentally hit another time which was preset at
3 AM with no stop time.
I hate losing 20 plus gallons of solution but at least I got a very good flush with 1.05 EC and 5.81 pH.

I was wrong, later this morning while cleaning the remainder from the solution out of the catch tray I notice some liquid in the catch basin in the tent, turned out to be about 1.5 gallons. Still in the cleaning mode.

This next week we will be doing a major defo setting up the start of flower within the next two weeks.
Going to collect two clones from each plant to set up the next grow, which will be a multi plant horizontal grow, not sure how many plants yet.
Being different pheno's the heights are a bit different but will raise the shorter plants as needed.
Numbers 4, 3, 2, 1, and 5 in order of tallest to shortest. Number 4 is 26" and the shortest is #5 @ 14".

Till next time!

The ROOTS!!!!!!!! I wants! What is your humidity like?

I have no idea, LOL
My temps run around 78 to 80 degrees.
I live in the south so would expect my humidity to be a tad high.
I draw my air from a separate room that has an designated AC in it that I keep at around 67 degrees. That gives me around 78 to 82 degrees in the tent.

I know right, those roots and stalks are sick! How far you keep them from the lights, 1 foot?

On average it is 10", between training to the screen and being able to back them up sum from the lamps, I have about 4" to play with.
Once in flower should be no problem as I put up netting to hold them back from the lamps.
These pics are from my 17'/18' vertical 5 plant LSD grow.
This pic is a day prior to harvest.
