Hi all I have been told if you use big pots you will get big buds? See I was always veg for 6 weeks to get a big plant = big buds. So could I cut my veg time and just use big pots? I use 11 liter pots can any1 give any input on this thanks guys :peace:

The size of the root ball determines the size of the plant.

The size of the plant determines the size of the buds.

That is a simplified explanation for you.

I grow flood & drain now days but i grew soil for years & i started off using large pots because that was the info being passed around at the time, how wrong i was, after seeing my friend grow 4 foot monsters in half gallon containers i thought differently. At the end of my growing in soil i was growing using 1.5 quart containers & pulling around 4 ounces per plant,a plants root system need only be large enough to deliever water/nutes to the plant, small pots require more frequent waterings & that is all.

By that logic you should be able to grow 4' pot plants out of a shot glass with a drip feeding system.

C,mon now, there is a point where no amount of drip system could feed a plant properly & i think you were aware of that when you posted, the cold truth is that large pots with expensive soil are not needed to get fantastic results & large yeilds.

bigger pot does not neccessarily mean bigger buds. but if given the proper environement and time it will mean a bigger plant. but a bud size in my experience is not determined by plant size (with in reason) . i have cut bigger colas of a plant grown in a 6" pot than one grown in a 12". but there was obviously more buds from the 12". strain and structure will have more of an effect on bud size.

Its been a few years since posting that pic of the moose but a chonicle of her life should still be archived in a thread in advanced growing forum on the site, fdd started an experiment using different cloning solutions & that plant was part of the thread with lotsa pics.

At harvest the cola was longer & fatter than a 2 liter pop bottle, the pic in my avatar only shows the top 1/3 of the bud,im pretty sure the strain was top.44 skunk, its been 3 yrs so im not positive on dry weight but somewhere around 53 grams dry rings a bell to me.

it matters how long u veg not just the pot size..pot size helps vegging plants get bigger..more root space=bigger plants but not necessarily bigger buds, it all depends how long u veg.
