i was reading on how to trim my plant and found out that i shud just tie the big fan leaves so the buds at the bottom of my lady can get light then i saw that someone said ppl usually just cut off the little (pop corn) buds off so the plant puts more energy towards the main cola is this true????

You can cut them off if they really bother you, but kinda reasonable to think that if they are just small popcorn buds, the plant really isnt putting much energy into developing them. I just let mine be.

Exactly, I can't imagine that the plant spent really any more energy growing that bud than healing the cut removing it. I just leave them and toss them in the hash pile.

The plant already knows how to redirect growth. thats why the tops get the most growth in the first place.

get 2plants of the same strain same food conditions etc..and trim one up and let the other one be and find out what u think works better..my rule is i only make cuts that are at the bottom 1/3 part of the plant..so if ur plant is a foot tall dont make any cuts past 4inches

I think he's just talking about the little puffs at the node points along the main stem and shit like that. If he meant removing lower branches and whatnot, then i misunderstood the question.

I leave mine be. The tiniest get tossed into the hash pile, but the rest are smokable, and most of mine (dry) are usually half a gram to a gram each - that adds up.

HomeGrow420 wasn't talking about removing branches, specifically, he was referring to any type of cut, which includes removing those little popcorn buds. A cut is a cut, and will always stress a plant to some degree. He was saying that you minimize that by sticking to the bottom 1/3.

I don't touch mine til they're done, then throw those tiny buds in the hash pile.

EDIT: If they have a decent amount of trichs on 'em, they go into my buddy's bag.

my plants never get stressed from making cuts..they may grow a lil slower that day but i've never noticed anything bad about making cuts but i never get outta hand with it..usually once i make my cuts they start growing faster after just one day..u just gotta know what to cut and what not to cut

Ya just gotta take everything we say on here with a grain of salt. Hardly anybody grows exactly the same way, so expect a variety of answers. If there was one hands down BEST way to grow weed then we would just need an instruction sheet and be good to go.

ok now i am just totally confused. so many different choices. lol
simple..like i said if ur plants a foot dont make any cuts past 4inches..only make cuts that are at the bottom of ur plant and dont cut the whole branch just stems and shoots growing out of the branches..or u can just let it go natural and dont cut anything

Aside from a very few hard and fast rules (example: they have to have light), in the long run, you'll have to find out for yourself what works for you. If you have multiple plants going, some people decide by experimenting - go ahead and cut off the popcorn buds on a plant or two, leave others alone - and see which result you like best.
