- overwatering
- flipping to flower after not giving the plant to recover from topping
- not keeping the dwc reservoir full.
- having my carbon filter hang on the top of my tent. now i have it on the floor to save vertical space for light.

First grow produced gnats and boy did they spread fast.
Tried numerous different methods to get rid of them but ultimately the yellow bug stickers worked. Needed ALOT of them for 4 plants. (Think I covered about 12 of the bug stickers)

And of course, keeping the medium drier than previous.

Worrying too much; overthinking; being over active.

Yeah getting a feel for over / under watering takes a bit of time and getting an idea of how to feed. Otherwise just set up the environment as best you can then let the plant do the rest. Reading all sorts of info online I was under the impression (especially with autos) that just looking at the plant the wrong way would stunt it and ruin the whole grow. These plants are super resilient and will be just fine.

I was very lucky on my very first run but I had no fans or filter. I ran California Orange Bud, which was incredible, but I was sweating bullets for weeks due to the odor. It was in a 2nd floor bathroom closet in the middle of the house but you could smell it outside the house. I ended up cutting a hole in my ceiling and venting into the attic in hopes to reduce the smell.

In no particular order:

1) shitass blurple lights overheated my tent to like 100F even with an 8 inch duct fan
2) not sealing my tent with proper HVAC tape - my house smelled like dank weed. Not exactly a problem, but I didn't feel comfortable having guests over.
3) poor water/nutrient management
4) not giving sativa buds enough flower power time
5) too much veg time and wack ass pruning technique - my plants outgrew the tent and trimming buds sucked ass.

I ended up with smokeable decent bud - but it just left me wondering how good it would have been if I did a better job. Essentially, I kept the top buds for myself and sold everything else as shake to friends. It all comes with time ;)

First of all, thank you all for your advice. Reading all this def makes me feel like I'm in over my head. I planted 2 seeds from my bag of smoke for some practice (so I know nothing about them) they've only been planted 4 days, I have them in a bathroom with 100w lights at 30 inches away. I have a little fan in with them. Ive been watering them every second day. I haven't been checking temp of the room or anything else. I obviously need to do a lot more research before I plant the seeds I bought.

First step is awareness, you're on the right path! lol

- not unplugging equipment before moving/making minor adjustments

ALWAYS unplug or turn off your stuff :wall:
