Bird seed or Popcorn?

I see a mixup of terminoligy.
Spawning of mushrooms is the act of using a colonised grain to spawn into another medium like horse poop....

If you want to use the grain itself as a substrate I'd go with rye or corn.

My bad. I mean using popcorn instead of wild bird seed in my jars that I will be injecting. I saw it on the shroomery where the dude used whit popcorn in qt jars. Just something I was thinking about.

Now look carefully, what don;t you see..... mushrooms

The tek is purely to innoculate corn (grains) with fungi.

As I tried to explain you could either use the corn itself as a medium to grow the shrooms, rye is better but more expensive.
But the ultimate goal of using grains is to spawn into another medium like horsepoop, or what have you. The smaller the grain, the more seeding points there are when spawning to the final medium.

Using straight corn, you can layer some verm in an icecream tub, then add your colonised corn, break it up so you get an even layer and then add about a quarter inch of moist verm on top to seal it all in and keep the moisture in. Put this into your fruiting chamber.

Do not try to make cakes from corn, it sucks...

No cakes at all! I am doing the monotub with the horse poo, vem, and worm casting mix. I was just thinking pf using popcorn instead of wbs in my jars i will be knocking up. I am probably going with the wbs tek in my jars tho.

Ok, either way it should work fine, I've done corn and pooh before without problems...

Cool cool. I have heard some say to fill your jars half way before they go in the pc and ive heard 3/4ths. What do you think?

About 3/4 is good, remember that 1/4 inch dry verm in the bottom of your jar.

The space is only needed in case you need to shake the jar... which is realy not what I recommend anyway... no one shakes nature's jars outdoors...

Yep Ive remembered everything you have told me to the T. I am ready to fly with shit if my income tax check would fucking come.

Ive heard corn dosnt have enough nutrients, or at least not enough variety of nutrients. although i have used pop corn mixed with rye. rye is awesome, going from bird seed to rye, bird seed is just messy and nasty in comparison. and takes forever to dry a little before loading jars. but bird seed is cheap, and it works!

Dont forget to rinse the crap out of whatever grain you decide to use, till the water runs clear. then soak them for 24 hours. then rinse again till clear.

i am so lost when it comes to growing shroom am i thinking of it to hard

what i am thinking is
get horse shit
put it in a buckit
with moist soil
wait a few week then up come some shrooms
????????
i am so lost -

Look, corn will not give the same size fruits as say horse manure, but it is plently good enough on its own, I've grown buckets full of corn shrooms.

If you don't presure cook your corn to hydrate them, and instead boil them you should do the soak thing above.

I am using wbs for my jars and a horse poo, verm, worm casting, coco coir mix that I will pasturize in a 5 gallon bucket with boiling water and mix that shit with my colonized jars of wbs in my monotubs. Case closed! ANC be on the look out for my grow. Peace!
