Another awesome story.

They are smart! Up here in the far north When it's really cold like -30c The Ravens have learned to sit on the street lights during the day and cover the photo-cell so they turn on a warm up.

One day I was watching two ravens having a log rolling comp in the parking lot! Was a 750 ml drink bottle I think, they would turn it away from the sides of the lot and one would hop on and get it rolling and try to stay on, as soon as it fell off the next one would go, was some funny shit!

Farmers......

Now this is a true story ... I was there.

I visited my cousins many times in Virginia and they had a big place leased from the neighboring farmer, who was a huge man with beautiful daughters... no lie. All that fresh air and hard work must have paid off. But that's not the story.
Now the farmer loved his Cadillac cars and bought one every two years. So I'm over there one afternoon helping out and getting an eyeful of busty girls when I hear the guy yell and curse and come bolting out of his big arse garage. He proceeds to tell everyone to gather up the cats and bring them to the garage. So we all walk in with cats and drop them on the floor. He shuts the door and proceeds to shoot one with a 12 gauge. I'm like .... well I don't know what I was like.... flabbergasted I suppose. Then the youngest girl Jackie yells out "Why Pa?"

He shows us the roof of his brand new Caddy, completely scratched up and ruined.

So I asked him how he knew which cat did it?

He informed me he didn't know, but that wasn't the point. Now they all know not to come into the garage anymore.

Farmers.......
man oh man,.........i laughed so hard at that story!! for various reasons. the main one being that the area i live in has LOTS of old farmers who i know would do exactly that! bet u was trippin!! anyway man thanks for that....glad i wasn't drinking anything as i read that!
great pics btw^^^ what kind of camera do you use? i tried to find a decent one last summer but couldn't find one w/ a good 'zoom' feature. you know......when i'd zoom in things would lose focus. didn't want to have to spend $300 dollars on one, but looks like that may be the starting price for cams that zoom in and stay clear like i want.

Right? Farmers have their own way of dealing with issues... directly.

That guy is gone now, but man he was something else.... always just called me "yankee". One day I'm driving with him on US301 which in that area hugged parallel to 95. As we're driving along he spies a turkey along the road on our side of 301. There was no one coming on our road, although there was plenty of traffic humming on 95 to our left. He stops the truck and comes out with his 12 gauge from the rack behind and blows that turkey away.... man, you should've heard the screeching of brakes all along 95.... scared the heck out of everybody. That guy doesn't even pay them any mind and tossed that turkey in the back of the truck ... get's in and just grins at me.... "that's the way you get dinner Yankee".... He was a classic dude!!

I have some of those that come around once a year, those are blue jays right?
Yah, those are Blue jays....

I took those with a Nikon ... ahem ... 300 dollar camera ... ... you get what you pay for.

its just that for $300 dollars i'd like to be able to take detailed photos of mars and watnot ya know? naw i'm kidding. i may end up ponying up the dough this summer for a good nikon or kodak hi-res model idk. and ur boy sounds like the epitomy of a redneck....which i'm sure he's damn proud of too.... thats ok, there's nothiung wrong w/ that (i feel like i'm in that seinfeld episode lol) its good for ppl to be comfortable in their own skin. so my cheap ass is outta here. peace

Take a look at the Panasonic Z35 it's about 300 or so, and has a carl Zeiss lens which is quite sharp. It macros and telephotos out to about 500mm film lens equivalent. It's slower than a DSLR, but that's to be expected. Nothing is as fast as a DSLR camera.

I have the previous generation Panasonic and it takes great pics...moon shots included  Good all around camera.
