not overkill if you live where I do! (boonies)alkaseltzer does not make them explode, but does kill them, for I seen 1st hand of that. seen a bunch of kids throwing alka seltzer to seagulls at a parking lot long time ago and they would fly off and then drop to the ground like they were shot out of the air and layed there a few minutes and poof. they're dead!
