birth control and weed

i heard out in the northwest its been popular lately to dilute a birth control pill and add it to the plant. i heard with the estrogen in the dilluted water will help your chances of making more females? have i been misled or is this somethin to check into?

this would be a new one if i knew it. best bet is to try it and let us know but i'm sorry i doubt it severely lol

Your girl should be taking the pills. Waste of time and effort to use on mary jane unless you want human female hormones in your stash(grow breasts or something like that from smoking).

My thoughts exactly. Estrogen is a human pheromone. I don't see how that can be a benefit for mj? Who knows, it might be possible that it does influence it somehow, try it out and let us know.

lol wow... birth control? shit just keeps getting crazier and crazier! wouldnt it be nice to get a fertilizer that promoted female growth on a plant!

this is something thats been around almost as long as birth controll pills. some swear by it and some say its hoodoo. either way, its nothing new at all.

i heard it had an effect on the plant. it seems to make sense in a way. but this man lived by it and he said someone else turned him on to it so people do it i just thought it was a little far fetched. but if there is a slightest realation between the two i guess it could work. im still a lil etchy about trying it on my plants though lol

I wrote this post about 4 months ago ....

I'm going to be starting my first grow in about 3 weeks and I will be soaking my seeds in 1 pill - 1oz of water over night and then germinating them with the same mix. This supposedly increases the chances of getting a female 15% - 25%. Since I'm only starting 6 seeds, urban legend or not, I don't want my first grow to be only 3 plants because 50% of them went male. As long as I get 1 female from each strain I'll be happy, but I would prefer to have them all come out fem I figured with BCP's + luck=75% chance of getting all females.

I've found this referenced in 5 books in print and all over the internet people swear by it. I'll let you know how my plants sex out when I get to that point.

I heard this one about 20 years ago. Was no "internet", but plenty of books on growing. I read most of them at the time and "birth control pills" were not something that demanded many pages of elaboration. To my recollection, most reference were nothing more than a "it has been reported/there is a rumor/we once heard" sort of thing. You could try it. The only way to really determine if it works is if you apply it to clones in a very strict environment. Seeds (even from the same bud) can have drastically different growth habits anyway. Just my thoughts.
