Bizarre Rusty Patches on Seedling's Leaves! PLZ HELP!!!

Greetings all,

I'm on my 2nd indoor grow and have decided to start from seeds rather than clones.

So far things have been OK; except for one plant.

These seedlings were planted in a light soil mix by Janeco (used it in my last grow). The only nutes I've given so far are BioBizz Alg-a-Mic, BioHeaven, Root Juice (all have an NPK value of 0.1, 0.1, 0.1, so I highly doubt it's nute burn) and AN Phiranna for some friendly funghi.

The Flo seedlings (three on the left) are growing kinda slow compared to the Warlock, but I'm not worried about that:



One plant however seems to be exhibiting a very odd deficiency/stress which I haven't encountered before. Remember, all plants are receiving the same treatment, but just one plant is being a PITA!

I first noticed purple-bluish hues under the leaves and a purple stem. I though OK, could be normal since this is a Purple strain (most phenotypes anyway). Then on top of the leaves I noticed little rusty spots, which 2 days later are looking like this:



Also notice how some of the newer growth have dark patches near the tips...

Any ideas what this could be?

Kinda looks like a P AND magnesium def...not sure though. what is your medium?

Some plants just aren't meant to be. The weaker ones when you grow from seed. All of those products are a waste of time and you didn't need them. Check the ph of your soil runoff at next watering, but other than that, let it fight and try. Don't add nutrients.

What is the temperature btw?

What kind of light are you using and how high is it?

You are Prob right. I've had mag defs almost this early but fixed with pHed water. My bad.

I guess this could be one of the weaker ones. I did test the run-off, and it fluctuated between 6.6 and 6.8.

Temp is about 78 degrees, so a bit on the higher side. I've only got a 400w HPS but for now have it set pretty high off the canopy (over 30 inches) to avoid heat stress. Humidity is between 45-50%.

I'll give her sometime but if this continues, I'll just put her out of her misery. I still have 5 more Flo seeds so it's not a total loss.

Could it be a micro-nutrient deficiency this early on? Swiss tap water has one of the lowest EC's (PPM) in the world so it could be lacking in minerals?

You could try a foliar feed of Cal/Mag. Sounds like you have everything else under control. Maybe 30 inches isn't enough for this little seedling, but in that case, I'd still kill it. Shouldn't really have any kind of deficiencies that early in life. The plant has everything it needs at this point built-in sorta speak.
