I apologize, I was referring to the OP but I replied to your post.
I'm not saying the OP is a racist but his post is demeaning and assumes all "black people" like expensive sneakers. That comment alone means he is judging "blacks" as a whole.
I'm not saying his comment was the most racist comment ever, but like I said previously, I don't like it because the relationship between blacks and whites is very fragile. There has been sooo much damage over race that little comments can make a big difference.
OP was probably just being stupid but nevertheless it is not helpful to those who want to make things better.

You guys can harsh on NOE being racist all you want but somewhere there is an assload of empirical marketing data that supports his claim. He's not saying all black people do it.

I assumed the thread was not serious in nature it was a troll/bait thread using stereotypes of black folk
questioning their sense of fashion, maybe silly but certainly not racist
there was no attempt to suggest that the fashions chosen by black people make them any less worthy as people
stereotyping is not racist by default although some folk believe it is
i would suggest that if anyone was offended by this thread it would be misguided politically correct white folk rather than black folk
i would assume anyone with some experience of RIU or the internet in general would be aware of this kind of thread

There's work in the social psychology department that extensively analyze why stereotyping is just as bad as racism and other types of discrimination. Like stereotyping your average pothead always ends up as a bad thing.

as far as i know psychology is not a science it's pseudoscience so their opinion is only that
and will be disputed by various other psychologists with differing opinions
if some people are incapable of separating a generalization/stereotype from the reality of an individual moment then this would be a problem

Black people tip shitty. I manage a restaurant and know a ton of people in the service industry, and its not racist just the fact is generally, that is how it is. Im tired of people claiming racism and bs like were just getting over it. Slavery happened 200+ years ago. Africans sold africans to europeans they werent just taken. And no one that was a slave in the us is still alive today and i really fucking hate when people claim that shit is racist and try to claim the whole slavery relative thing. Its like, tell me the name of your relative that was enslaved or get the fuck out of here. The only racist people left are the people saying shit is racist. Because nobody else gives a fuck.
