My tap runs through the softener. I can get straight well through the spigot outside. I do have calmag on hand though. I haven't been running it at all for quite some time. I did just add 1mL to the gallon for the Chernobyl plant.
1.6g each of V1 and V2 floralfex
1mL calimagic
6.0-6.1pH
545ppm

We will see how she acts the next few days getting that.
I bet that will work. I tried using the bypass valve on my water softener last summer to get hard water for plants. Big mistake, lol. Locked out nutrients pretty bad. Ended the year with a garden hose hauled up through my second floor grow room window. Convenient and classy!

If there are 2 things I'm good at, it's convenient and classy*!!!!!

*Other people's opinions may vary on the classy part.

Really? I have been taking water from the softener bypass valve for several grows now and have not experienced issues with lockout.
I must have underestimated how long I had to purge the supply line to the bathtub I was using to fill buckets. And because I had faith in that bypass valve, when I started getting spots and withering, salt water was the last thing I considered. Thought I had goofed up my nutrients, or I had root rot. @curious2garden put her finger on the problem and a massive flush with full strength nutes righted the ship. And a classy garden hose.

Or, OR, my bypass valve is installed backwards lol. Nah, can't be. Surely I would notice hard water on regular service.
When I was plumbing I was taught to always bypass the softener to the kitchen sink and/or laundry tub. I only did new construction 20 years ago and believe this was code. Any house I’ve had has a bypassed line. If your bypass valve is a plastic thing on the water heater be careful, I’ve had more than one get stuck open. I’d grease it if possible or you should have a faucet between the meter and softener.

I had hard water run to my kitchen sink because it makes better bread dough and other things. I also Installed 2 taps on hard water in my basement for growing convenience. Here's my bypass valve, lol. It's on the softener not the heater.20240125_083421.jpg

I desperately need a classy hose or at least one that does not blow up on me!
