SO many xmas parties, I'm already sick of holiday tunes. Played a xmas party for a large talent agency downtown on Thursday, and gotta play another 4 hour party this evening. Thursday after my gig I did a couple of deliveries to clients, then headed to my buddy's place to catch some dinner. This dude is my last $180 an oz custie, and hasn't been buying lately. Turns out two dispensaries opened right down the street from his place. He showed me all the new strains he purchased with such pretty packaging, and the cannabis was dank AF. He purchased almost an oz of varied dank for $190, and that's with the outrageous Chicago tax. I see the end of the road for me selling weed now, as I promised myself I won't go under $100 oz. I see 2025 as probably the last year, just won't be worth the risk, effort, or expense of indoor growing. Not when I can buy dank ounces for $100 for personal consumption. It was a fun, wild ride. Glad I got to reap the benefit I did, and I'm glad the music biz is doing so well...

We had recreational on the ballot and my mom asked me if I was voting for it. She was a bit shocked when I said yes because she knows I don't want any more of my friends to go out of business and I really loath the corporate model that's been setup here, especially after working in the mold and aphid farms for a year. (It failed so whatever.)

It's not been fun getting legalization. I hate our dispensaries, the state sucked all the possible fun out of them and then some, I miss hangin' out and playing PS3 with my old weed guy, or running around town a helping him score his weekly batch and the trouble we got into along the way; sometimes very fun, sometimes not; but damn the coaster was great and the stories are still talked about.

I ran into a mom last month at my daughter's school, who looked kind of familiar. I left to go take a pull of my vape pen and she busted me.
Apparently 17 years ago when she was a college junior she was dragged into my tent at a festival by a friend of hers, where a buddy and I were dabbing the hell out of everyone who came in. Between the two of us we had about 3 oz of wax and were determined to go home with none. She recognized my pony tail but wasn't sure until she tailed me and caught me taking a hit and called out my festival name. That was a great night, that aparently lead to her metting her future husband about an hour after getting her first dab and subsequently carried out of my tent by her friends. After we closed the tent I spent the night taking care of my knuckle head buddy who randomly took a facefull of crystals of unidentifieid content and I was left making sure he stayed breathing until the morning and I could kick him out at his house. The good and the bad, hotties all night in my tent and I end up taking care of a knuckle-head who still lacked frontal lobe regulation.

The corporate stuff I saw in Vegas and unregulated NYC was much more fun than what we have down here. Still thinking about the fun I had in the 90s as a teen being the high-school hookup and getting back into the life in my 30's after a decade being straight, legal retail purchases rarely result in stories that get told for over a decade.

I'll always prefer to grow over buy, especially the corporate weed, price is more or less irrelevant to me. I grew up on farm fresh food, I knew the names of my steaks, pork chops, and chickens as a kid; when we moved to the city I hated the food and still can't stand grocery store produce. Pretty much feel the same way about weed, mine and my friends' grows are always better even when it's not; because even if they fucked up the lights or underwatered for a week, their plants have heart.

I hear you. Growing for me has always been mostly about the money, but it also satisfied a lot of my rebellious urges. Kinda fun being a criminal. Chicago's dispo weed is fantastic quality, but I'll probably buy my shit from independent growers. If I can't make good money at it, fuck it, no real reason to grow myself, esp. considering the risk. I only smoke an ounce per month, that's $100. Much cheaper than growing it myself indoors. To each their own.
