30x30" or 36x36" can be a lot of material cost along with shipping. The Spyder is about that size but a bit flimsy from what I understand. One powerful lamp in a small package isn't the best idea especially for hobby growers, but at the same time, installing 4 lamps in a 4x4 and especially extrapolating that out over a larger area isn't the most appealing concept either. That's the best coverage available at the moment though. I think there will be more creative solutions available sometime this year. A51's CXB lamps should be interesting, and who knows what else might turn up.
 
Thats why i liked the diy light that looked like the robot from lost in space, now that concept with bendy arms and also a central light would be sweeet
 
Enclosure is 25 x 25 x 3 inches. Ive used it for a few grows on 4x8 tables ( 2 lamps). It covers very well. The par numbers are in the ebay ad. The center 4 leds can be dimmed if you like, but there is no reason. Pound the light to your plants, not the heat.
$1699 canadian, which is about $1370 USD.
 
Fixtures are assembled in china, with meanwell drivers (which are made in taiwan) and Cree cob cxb chips.

Fixtures are shipped to canada and tested before they are shipped to the customer. The product was designed and tested and shipped from BC canada.
 
@BuddyColas when I bought my Cree cxb3590, and mean well hlg 185 1400, I was under the impression I was building a light to serve me for long term, like years. I know tech is rapidly advancing but its gonna be a cold day in hell if I'm replacing the cxbs as soon as this summer. Unless mine breaks, i don't see myself paying extra for the next light on the market.

Me either. I run Vero 29s at about 30 dissipation watts a square foot. I am already 5-8% back from you efficiency wise, but that doesn't bother me. I bought good heat sinks and dimmable meanwells...so after several more technology jumps I might think about pulling off the Kapton tape and upgrading. Until then I am enjoying the most productive growing I have ever done under my diy cob bars! They have far exceeded my expectations. So I'll be sitting on the sidelines and watching a very exciting summer technology wise.:mrgreen:
 
Yeah from everything Ive seen thats the standard case for 98%. That open top is super nice and has all it needs support wise. I have friend with a break, going to see what thickness he can bend in it. Worst case 3 holes with a holesaw will be needed after. Been running HID and than blurple, sonexcuse future ignorance to COB's (im sure ill have a bunch) cheers
