Waxing or waning or some shit?

A conspiracy by the govt of the moons activities!

It was beautiful here -- for once the sky wasn't cloudy, mid April. I alerted the family about it at midnight (PT, am in Oregon), and not ONE of those brats would sit with me and watch. "It's too cold! It looks like a regular ol' moon! Blah blah blah."

Cretins.

I don't have the patience to read the whole thread but I will take a crack at debunking this rubbish. Firstly, four blood moons in 18 months happen infrequently, but on a wholly predictable basis. This is the forurth or fifth time in the last hundred years. Despite reverend What's-his-fuck's assertion, nothing particularly important has happened during those past blood mooney periods. While his book claims otherwise, he (and his febrile co-author) has been shown to play fast and loose with dates to make his proposition seem plausible to people who accept things without evidence (i.e. religious types).

"Blood Moons" are eclipses. Most of these will not be viewable in the holy land. So why should we expect anything special to happen there in this case? Even if you believe in this sort of tripe, ascribing some sort of special "Jebus is coming" significance to events occur naturally and predictably seems to be a stretch.

Didn't see last night's. Snow.

Guess what folks? It isn't a sign from god. It's a sign that physics is still working properly - or, at the very least, that our models are not totally full of shit. Yay humans!

Yeah. Ok. I read the thread. Any talk of prophecy ended at the OP. Good for you, stoners! Posts like that make me think my mom signed up. I overreacted. I guess most
of you know better than to see biblical prophecy in a predictable event (duh).

Congrats for treating it like the natural event that it was. Sorry I couldn't see it.

Seriously?

How can this be a biblical prophecy if it can be predicted hundreds of years in advance? Millions of years? Think about it dude. Just the universe acting the way the universe acts. Any meaning you attribute to it is on you. But if you wanna sell your shit to me at a deep, deep discount - because Jebus is coming - PM my ass.

Seriously, you need to reconsider what a "true understanding" is. Balls of matter in motion, that's all.

lol. Natural event? So, do you know what happened the last time this happened? The 6 day war. Not saying that was the cause, and not saying I believe in all of it either. Just saying what if. However the fact that the last time it happened being in 1600 - 1900 is indeed rare. Not to mention it happened on the Jewish holiday.
