So the coco run is doing great, the plants are about 22-24 inches. I'm going to give them the 48 hour darkness then flip it into flower... Reason being is because I'd rather experience this stretch for myself rather then taking his word for it... If it only stretches to 30-34 inches I'll still be happy even though I'm used to 40" plants. Regardless it's also alot of work for me to be trimmin and curing and everything by myself. It's a lot of work.
Now to update the customized ebb and grow...
Ok with the system the way I customized it, it will allow me to be able to run it both ways. The first way is the one that cap designed, and the other that UC designed. What I liked about the Ebb and Grow is the ability to control up to 48 buckets, and it's a pretty good producer. Now what I didn't like was the T connections to each site, along with that the 1/2 inch bull shyt. Now what I liked about the UC design is that it allows for a constant flow to each bucket(they took out the T and added a return pump back to the controller unit), which in turn allows for fresher water, nutes, and air to the roots, versus the ebb and grow where they just sit in the water. What I didn't like was the price... Fuck that lol. Also they're using so much more water, you'd have to compensate by adding in more nutes IMO.
Tomorrow I'm going to do another test run with all 24 buckets attached and see if the 1" connection will be able to keep up with the 350 gph pump. Before it was a little too fast, but that was with only 12, tomorrow I will have all 24 buckets connected and the return lines with both connect to a T which then will hit the single pump. I think with all 24 buckets it will allow for proper drainage, and allow the unit to keep up with the pump. Reason why I think this is because before it was slightly too high, but that was because it only had 2 exits to fill the 12 buckets, now I have 4 exits which will allow for faster draining. Which I hope will compensate for the pump..
So far the cost of the conversion, with the pvc and connector pieces, caulking, and drill bit was roughly about 60-75$ I'm not 100% because most the time I was just running in an out of the store just buyin shit. The pump was 83$ and I bought 27$ worth of shit I don't need which I'll be returning tomorrow lol.
So in the end it cost about 150$ give or take to convert the ebb and grow(24 pot site) to a working UC system. Granted it may not be as large, therefore not getting as strong as a current, but fuck for 1/2 the price. I can wait till I got extra dough to blow. I'll post pictures tomorrow, it's dark right now and the shit is set up outside because there's not enough room in the rooms right now.
Any questions, comments?
