If you are talking about the top drip pump then yes they should be put on a timer. Keep in mind that EVERY girl is different and some might like A LOT of water.....kinda like there are models and there are...well you get it!

I had planned on using a timer but never put it on and seems fine. There is only about 2 inches of water in the bottom of my bucket so I think the exposed roots like the constant flow yet can still get all the air they want. Also, when I changed the res I ran plain water through the system from another res and figured out that there is only about 1-2 gallons per hour running through the plant.

All strains are different though.

Here she is 1 week later. You can see by the cage support thing how much she has grown. I was aware of how much this strain stretches because I already flowered her mother. The 24 hour dark and keeping her close to the lights seems to have helped a lot with that.

When the stem, which is very thick and sturdy, is much more oily than my organic plants and smells VERY funky, almost gross but somehow wonderful!

I am now understanding the value of vegging and flowering in one spot. The insane growth rate in veg would be perfect for a 5x5 tent with a naked 400 watt bulb in the center and a screen tube around it covered in bud. I think I see this in my future.

PPM - 700
Water temps - 70-72f
PH - 5.5-5.9
Have been adding one gallon of nutrient solution per day so far.
Res changed at 14 days. Smelled like fresh crisp roots after changing, though it did not smell bad before, just like nutes.

Sorry to hear about the first one. Good luck with the second.

I had one hermie also, but it was my fault not the genetics. We'll see how thi one goes.

thanks man, ive been trying to find out if a hydro system would still work with the air pump on 16 hours a day and off 8, i cant find any information about it around and i dont really want to try it myself incase i kill my plants, have a stealth closet i want to put a hydro in as another hydro grow i have is growing alot more rapidly than my soil grow, but airpump noise needs to be off at night. any have any ideas?

I had 2 BB's, 1 hermed out when I burned the cola and the other turned out amazing. Harvested 2.5 oz. Love this strain. Just started a Blue Mystic, figured why not add a little skunk to the mix.

Time for an update. I changed the res and decided to increase the ppm . It ended up at 890ppm when I was done. I again flushed RO water through the system during the change. The temps are staying about 72. Ph fluctuates quite a bit, but I don't change it unless it's below 5.5 or above 6.2, or I add nutrient. I've been checking it daily. With only 4 gallons in the system I need to keep an eye on it.

I'm really enjoying understanding the relationship between ppm and the water level and how much the plant is eating. Kinda makes me feel more like I AM growing this plant and it is doing well because of what I am doing, instead of just get the environment right and the plant is gonna do whatever it's gonna do like organic.

I think she is done stretching. I may not run this strain anymore simply due to the stretch. We'll see how she ends up. :peace:

Thanks man!

I had PM when I first got going and haven't since. It could be that I got my environment dialed in but I cut my plant count in half and I think that has helped too. Although, we've all see those 4x8 trays filled with like 70 one cola plants, so I guess cramming can be done successfully.

It may look like it from pics, but my flower room is not crammed at all. I have 6 plants in a 12.5' x 15'. I used to be aiming at going commercial someday but they changed the laws so I
said fuck that. Those 6 plants do stay together, but barely touching each other. The extra room and the light mover are my challenge to make the plants as large as I can. I was enjoying the challenge, but am now maxing out on the 3' wide doorway and being able to keep the plants mobile.

So now the plan is to wait for the light mover's motor to fail and then I'm going to hang the bulbs vertically and give that a shot. I have also been thinking about buying or making a 5x5 tent to try one plant with a vertical 400watt. I may be leaning more towards individual flower rooms rather than one big one, I'm just not sure. I don't know what I want to do!

Yeah I am working on my setup right now, trying to get everything dialed in. I am really trying to avoid a heater at night situation. I don't want to switch my girls to be up at night due to the fact that I am not up at night! I like to be able to get out there and get work done durring the day! I don't know how anyone keeps them up at night with a perpetual grow? Your plant training looks really good man! I just don't have the time it seems...... I just top of fim a couple of times and let them roll! Once I get my rooms straight I will be able to fuck around with plant training to see if the output is worth the extra veg time? Also I am currently allowed 30 plants so maximizing output on a small # of plants isn't key for me right now. I am actualy going to look into a collective grow and do 45! But first things first is getting rooms running tip top then I will add more!

later C/C

Looking good. Gotta say I am happy with the way she has gone and is really filling out nicely. Man CC that girl is big! She looks great. Mine stopped growing maybe after a week or so into flower. But honestly wasn't paying that close attention.

I couldn't wrap my head around running my lights at nigt until I figured out that it helped a lot with the heat in summer and that I could heat my house with it in the winter. I just have a tent on the side for dark periods, harvest whenever I want. Sounds like you may not be growing at home though.

The extra veg time is a free gift from mother nature - it takes 8-10 weeks (or even more) to flower one, so the one in veg that took the place of the one that went to flower has that long to veg. With this method the first 6 months or so is tough but once its up and running you actually have to be careful not to let them get too big. That is why I want to experiment with individual rooms because the plants could go bigger if I did not have to move them.

Good luck with the collective thing.

Hey man, you should make your pics large so we can see her bud structure better.
