Boiling vat of lower-grade bud?

Long story short, I’ve got a bunch of weed I don’t have the time or patience to pick little airy buds off from, but I don’t want to waste it. I’ve posted a pic below and there is more on the way after I’m done processing higher quality colas tonight. Can I just stick this in like a huge beer brewing vat and boil at relatively low temperature?

No, I am not gonna spend a shitload of money to process this stuff, not even on alcohol. Plus last time I tried that I ended up drinking a bunch of everclear and getting really shit faced on work nights, LOL.

Will the trichomes stay in the water? Will they evaporate? And if not, what can I later do with the “tea” to further process if I have time during the winter or something?

No, none of that will work. Thc is a hydrophobic, oily molecule (it repels water). So it wont dissolve in water even with heat (which would begin to break it down). And is not easily made to be water compatible, (where you could make a suspension of thc in water). That takes ultrasonic manipulation and the use of surficants. Or high pressure manipulation also with the use of surficants.
If there's enough to work with bho, dry ice hash, cannabutter or (even if you don't want to spend the money) alchohol are all good options.

Ok thanks I will look into those options. I just need something cheap...

you can get a cheap set of bubble bags on Amazon for around $20. Then all you need 10-15lbs of ice and some buckets.

You can put it in a bottle of Everclear for 2 weeks then strain is. It makes a great tincture that will last for years. Decarboxylation the weed prior to putting in the alcohol.

Makes my stomach churn just thinking about it.

Make magic butter out of the weed. Simmer it in butter at low heat for about 20 minutes, putting the weed in a cheese cloth makes it easier to get out but strain it clean then use it to make stuff like cookies.

Yea I can’t stay away from a full bottle of alcohol for two weeks, LOL! (Yes, I am also a lush). I usually quit drinking on New Years so that might be the time to try tho.

It would cost too much for the amount of butter I’d need. I just want to process this shit fast and forget about it, or it goes in the burn pile. Thanks, tho!

Depends how many runs you wanna do. I usually do 4 runs and it takes me 2-3 hours. I use a electric drill and a mortar mixer attachment to agitate the mix. Just google making bubble hash.

Goddamn, I think I’m the only one here who fits the stereotype of the lazy pothead. That’s a lot of work. I think I’ll grind it around with ice for a while then sift it through one of those bubble bags, call it a day. Smoke whatever it yields and toss the biomass. I don’t particularly care about making really high quality hash, or even all that potent, so long as I get it done fast and cheap. I’ve got jars of bud so I’m not like emotionally attached to this pile, LOL!

Dry ice hash is the way to go for you absolutely!!! Pretty much exactly what you just said, only use dry ice and a Bubble bag around 160-180 micron... Fill a clean 5 gallon bucket 1/3 of the way full with a bit more product than dry ice, let it sit for 3-5 minutes, Shake it over a clean smooth surface with the bubble bag over the bucket, tightly.

Once the color starts to change to ANY green or darker color, stop, take the dry ice out, toss the product, and do it again and again until you have no product. A 5 pound bag will do pounds of product if you work fairly quickly and costs 5-10 dollars generally.

But hard to find for some people but my local Ingles sells it so check around, and if you can find some close by, I would say this is by far the easiest method to get what you can easily and fairly efficiently.

Seriously, there is no option as easy, quick, and cheap to get supplies for. You don’t even need a full set of bags, just a single bag around 150 or 180 will get the vast majority of trichome sizes and end up with an easy to work with product.
It likely won’t give you as clean or potent of a concentrate/hash as bubble hash, rosin, or solvent based concentrates, but it does a very acceptable job of getting a fair amount of the remaining cannabinoids, and is without question, the simplest and quickest method, at-least from what I have seen and experienced.

you can also do dry ice hash which is easier than doing bubble hash but less potent

Haven't watched it thoroughly, but there is a YouTube video on a guy making with ice and a blender.

Yea I am definitely going that route but I need to figure out where they sell dry ice. I live in a rural area but will go into town today and ask around. I’ll order the bags too, it seems like they might be useful...

I get my dry ice from the grocery store, they have it in a freezer, I just ask and they grab me some.
