yeah the topped lst has like 20 or so main tops and the one that was only topped has 6 main tops. I'm thinking the topped one is gunna have alot bigger colas tho. we'll see.

yeah its good to try new shit to see what works best for you. I ended up topping all of mine right before i planted them. Most of my babies i have not seen for 2 months. but i'm sure they're just as big. heres a couple pics of the topped one.

S'cribed to see the results. I've got some plants that I'm LSTing (what a pain in the ass!), and others that I went ahead an topped after not getting the branching I'd hoped for with FIMing. I was thinking about a combination of LST and topping, especially after seeing the topped plants just EXPLODE with growth, one of them is even growing a third branch out of the bit I topped (instead of just the two sides branching). Good stuff, looking pretty.

thanks, yeah it is a bitch lst'ing but it does make a huge difference as long as theres plenty of sunlight. I tried FIM'ing one and didn't really like the results either, it seemed to take a lot longer to recover than just normal topping. I'll get some pics of the stems tomorrow.

None of my plants have had a problem recovering from FIMing. They just grew out those leaves and they looked like they got a haircut. But, they also didn't BRANCH, which was the whole damned point of FIMing in the first place. Fuck it, I say, top those motherfuckers and watch 'em branch out. :D

I don't think i could switch the pot if i wanted to cause it weighs a ton(30gallons) also the other plants are fake flowers.

bought some new fertilizer to try out, its an organic tomato food 1-2-10.
well i finally got some nice stem pics and as you can see its not only topped and lst'ed but super cropped too. i'm not exactly sure how long she's been in flower but if i were to guess i'd say 2-3 weeks.

check it out. I'm doing both topping and lst'ing. I've read somewhere that your not supposed to top a plant more than 2 times but it doesn't say why. Does anyone know why its bad? I would like to know before top all the branches again. My plan is to top all the branches and have it grow down the barrel.
Can cause too much stress can cause hermaphroditism or seeding.

topping is supposed to slow growth rate down,as it has to recover and takes a few days,I wouldnt recomend it while plants small, but once it takes off,i reckon go for it.Some of my best producing plants were continuously topped once they entered full groth mode,as long as there is PLENTY of leaf to photosyn.thats just my opinion tho.good luck, looks like nice strain.I think sativas are better for topping myself,i leave the indicas to be xmas trees.lol

Hi LeRoy, I'm thinking that maybe we mj growers are using the wrong term when we say "topping". Look up the term in any gardening book, and topping is a SEVERE action, mostly on woody plants such as trees, certain shrubs, bushes, and palms. But PRUNING, now that's what works great, and it's what seems to match better. Every plant I prune shows me it digs it by speeding up growth, every plant (not just mj). :)

well its been a week and she's starting to smell pretty good, not the skunky smell i'm used to but more of a sweet smell. Most of the older leaves are starting to go yellow and die off but i'm lead to believe this is totally normal so i'm not gunna worry about it.

well its been almost 2 weeks since last update and things are going good all except the weather, its been raining 3 days a week so i decided to build a tent to help prevent mold. I started alternating feedings of maxi bloom(5-15-14) and monster bloom(0-50-30) so we'll see how that works out for her. I'm not sure what week of flower this is but i would guess week 5-6.

good looking buds, really crystally, you built a tent for them? did that help them grow better because its been raining alot in my area too i was thinking of doing the same thing

hey thanks for the comments, the tent's roof is made of fogged glass and the walls are white tarp. i'm finding the tent makes it grow slower because less light is getting to the buds but it is definitely doing its job keeping the rain and morning dews off the buds. i guess i'm just paranoid about mold, i'd rather smaller dry buds than big moldy ones.
