Shrubs First, welcome to the journal bro.. hope you decide to stick around, my journals may not attract much attention, but I will try to do weekly pic updates now that school is out for a month. I am actually not from or live near Boulder.. but I sure would love to be from that area.

"Boulderheads" are what I call my pitbulls... because they have big heads and just smash into walls with them and don't ever bat an eyelash. haha

hgaha ya my gfs got an awesome pit. shes alover. prob gettin one as well in a couple months. ever seen thaqt show "pittbulls and parolies"? its good exposure for pitbulls and breakin down the negative stereotype

I forgot I let someone borrow my hard drive which has the program I use to convert the RAW files into a usable .jpg format.

Ladies are looking perky and 3 out of the 4 strains left are really starting to yellow off. The belladonna is looking amazing, and is retaining that lush green appearance even 5 weeks in. I am really starting to notice how different strains demand different conditions.

Since I use a commercial pre-nuted soil, I really do not add anything to the mix, and can tell I should probably find something with less nutes in it begin with as this may be why some of the strains are yellowing off faster than others.

I am still very much a noob and because I keep experimenting with different approaches I will remain that way for a while, but the experience and knowledge that I have gained is worth it.

Hey Boomer.. yeah I have seen that show a few times. What an amazing woman to keep that place going the way that she does.

And I totally agree it is positive exposure not only for the breed, but for these people who get to work with the dogs. They get to see first hand how loving and wonderful these dogs really are and I feel that even if these people don't really care about anything else, those dogs have a special place in their hearts.

Be cautious with having more than 1 pit in a house together. It takes an experienced and committed handler to keep peace and make sure each dog is getting what they need. Not to say that it can not be done, but make sure that you really have the time and space for both dogs. My first two can romp around all day no problem. But my pup (well a 1.5 years now) has an innate drive to hunt, which if not channeled correctly will end up with him trying to fight my middle dog. For this reason the pup can only be out when the other 2 are in. I don't want to scare you away from another dog, but just make sure you think things through and test out the idea of getting a male if your g/f has a female.. or vice versa...

but ya shes got a female thats fixed i wanna get a male prob fix him too. but thats interesting to hear ill have to run that by her and see cuz def dont want problems. should b enough room at the house tho fofr both tho and well take em out to the dog park and on walks and shit alot mite have to take u up on ur info offer in a couple months tho

Cool bro.. just from following your journals and reading your posts, you sound like someone who does their thinking before they act.

That is good that your girls pit is fixed and that you already want to get yours fixed even before you have the dog. I had all of my guy's manhood removed around 9-10 months.

It is just one of those things, that you never really know how a dog is going to turn out until around a year old. All 3 used to run and play off-leash no problem, and around 9 months old the youngest started to challenge the middle dog. It started out in a playful manner, and one day I was outside and my neighbor came over to say hi and the pup just tore into my middle dog. Luckily for the dogs, they each only had mild puncture wounds and moderate swelling, no serious injuries that needed to be stitched up. Immediately after the fight ended I brought the two together again and they were fine (spent the rest of the day licking each others wounds, with a remorseful looks on both dog's faces).

Then it happened again....

It became very nerve-racking to leave the house wondering if they would get into when I was gone. Everytime my phone rang I expected it to be one of my roommates saying the dogs had torn each other up.

Once I separated the pup from the other 2, I saw a dramatic change in all 3 of the dogs. Things really calmed down and the dogs fell into the routine of switching in and out of the crates. It was really amazing to see them all calm down and be happy again. I keep 2 crates in my room and give the two older ones time out together and the pup, gets his own time. I switch them very often.. every 2-3 hours if I am home. They are much happier and my fear of them fighting are gone, because we just never allow that situation to ever exists.

The last thing a dog wants to do is have to make a decision. That is why they have lived so well with humans for so long. They are pack animals and they depend on a strong leader to show them what to do and when to do it. If you want to own a strong willed and powerful breed such as a pit, or rotty, you must be their guiding light and make all decisions for them. A quick example would be if your dog sees a squirrel and wants to take chase. Rather than stop and tell the dog "no". You really need to change directions and move away from the squirrel. This teaches the dog what to do when he or she encounters the squirrel. If you don't teach the dog how to act during those situations, instinct takes over.. and your dog is now dragging your face along the sidewalk trying to catch that squirrel.

I could go on and on.. but seriously please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions concerning pits... or just dogs in general.

I have 3 of them in a 5 gall bucket all splayed out. I wish I had 2X600 setup rather than the single 1000.. oh well

I am right around 6 weeks.. so still got some fattening up to go..

That is actually some good bag seed I had from about a year ago.. never was given a name.. but it has some purple tones starting to show up on the sugar leaves.. It smells like fruity cream-cheese!!

I forget what site I order from.. that was almost a year and half ago.. but The strain is from Paradise Seeds. I am gonna photoshop some of these shots for you to bring you in nice and close.
