So this is all calculations then and no measuring?

So would then there be better coverage in a given area (say 3x3) with more COB's at lower watts each vs less cobs at higher watts each so the PPFD is spread more evenly?

Yes to both questions. That's part of the reason (question 2) why the T2 is considered by me to have a 2x2 flowering footprint. I don't suggest it be used to flower in a 3x3, but spread issues aside the GPW wouldn't suffer much. I'm not saying spread isn't important, but when your max intensity isn't coming close to 1500, having a hotspot isn't really a game changer especially in veg. Hanging a 150w lamp in a 3x3 for veg, I would expect the vegetative growth in the outer areas to be similar to the growth in the center. That's why the website does list the T2 as a 3x3 veg lamp.

Thanks for the honest answers this will help me in arranging a couple of lights I'm going to build for testing vs other light sources.
