Boys will be Boys... Even in Veg.....

Ok, so I had some room in my plant count so I kept a good looking male around in case I want to try and chuck a little pollen. This is a TGA hurkle male; I'm not sure if I'll use it since I really have no way to know if it is a high cbd pheno. It has a strong sativa structure, but that may not mean much.

Anyway, this plant is still in veg @ 18/6 and has been for a while. I topped it so it will still fit in my seedling tent, but it's probably about 60 days old. This is a slow and low tent, I don't try to grow monsters in it, just enough to get strong roots and healthy tops.

But, it seems you can't keep a good man down. ;)

It's not considered a good characteristic for breeding to use a male that autoflowers.
Why is that? Some strains the males start flowering as soon as they are mature at about six weeks. I popped some Ketama regular seeds and I had multiple males that all started flowering under 24/7 around six weeks.
Interesting thing is that I used that pollen on a Strawberry Kush. I popped a seed of that cross and knew withing 4 weeks it was a female because it was already producing white hairs. Not clusters but a few here and there. It still was growing like it was in veg. Once flipped to 12/12 it immediately went into full flower. The cross wasn't an autoflower it just showed sex early and was quick to flower. Some of the early flowering trait from the male must have been passed on. It could be a desirable trait for those wanting a quick flowering plant.
I'm not claiming to be a breeder as I know so little. I just dabble in making crosses for personal use as a hobby and this is something I observed first hand.
