@rollinfunk nailed it there. Same with @reallybigjesusfreak
Dankonomics (Matt) has to be the most underrated breeder out there. Everything I've grown from him has been absolute fire.
Black dog by hso has solid phenos. Plus they're cheap. I'm not sure about any of the newer stuff. Their sour blueberry and blue dream were disappointing. This just shows how much I have to learn. Does this mean that:
Just wondering where HSO fits into all of this. There are a lot of mentions of California on their website, but they're named Humboldt Seeds UK. Seems a bit weird, but does that fall under, "mid-grade Euro genetics," or, "Californian Fire"?
- If I wanted to plant something like Haze x Northern Lights #5 by Sensi Seeds, I should consider instead a sativa-dominant hybrid from one of the North American breeders mentioned above? If yes, can you suggest a strain?
- If I'm considering Ghost Train Haze by Rare Dankness vs Royale Haze by Dinafem, just go with Rare Dankness because he's a serious breeder versus a large Euro company?
It's difficult to get info on some of the suggestions here, such as Harry Palms seeds. I have no clue whether or not they're indicas, sativas or hybrids, nor can I find info on when they normally harvest. There's not much info provided on the seedbank websites.
This is all really helpful to me, thanks.
CSISo.... let's say I want to buy some legit US strains from known, well-respected breeders. You've convinced me to go this route. I was hoping for some feminized seed recommendations for great, late-night indicas (for sleep), or great sativas from the following breeders, just to point me in the right direction? Or, your favorite hybrids? What do you like from these guys? These caught my eye at first glance:
What are the known favorite strains from these breeders? What are your favorites?
- CSI Humboldt: So many! Triangle Kush s1? GSC s1? Bubblegum s1? Durban Poison s1?
- Humbolds Seed Company: Humboldt Dream? Blueberry Muffin?
- Rare Dankness: Ghost Train Haze? Blue Haze Train?
- Katsu Seeds: Bubba Kush or Sour Bubba?
I'm reading up on ALL the breeders mentioned in this thread, those are just a few I looked into last night. Ultimately, I'd love to have a sativa, a hybrid and two indicas in my backyard, four different strains for four times the fun, lol. If it's a longer-flowering sativa, I'd keep it indoors or plant in a pot and bring her inside before frost.
The list of great beans available is so long that it's overwhelming for a rookie grower like me. Thanks.

CSI is the only one of those I'd spend my money on.
go with CSI
Sativa - Durban s1
Hybrid - too many to pick.Go with a TK or Chem cross
Indica - 3 Queens(Wifi43 x Bubba)
there's some really good CSI info in his interviewsThanks to all the suggestions here, I'm slowly reading through the entire CSI Humboldt thread. I think there's a lot for me to learn there!

I've tried rare dankness and HSC, they were both very disappointing. Katsu just started putting out seeds and from what I've seen grown out so far it's nothing special, the bubba s1's would be the only thing I would try from him. CSI although I haven't tried any of his stuff his reputation is rock solid. How come?
Hey Serverchris, thanks for all that. I've been on Instagram every day lately looking at pics, reading comments and asking questions. You’re right, it’s been really helpful. My grow room is filled with PeakSeedsBC plants based on RIU comments.Get on Instagram and look up picture from each breeder, if you see alot of really good pics of a strain from a certain breeder it's a good chance they are gonna be good. My success rate had went up exponentially since I've started researching strains like this before buying.
I'll just saw it's alot of very talented growers on RIU and also alot of noobs, alot of noobs will suggest things that really aren't that great cause they don't know any better. Idk about posting links from Instagram on here, I've never tried.Hey Serverchris, thanks for all that. I've been on Instagram every day lately looking at pics, reading comments and asking questions. Am I allowed to post links to certain instagram posts here, to share some photos? Would that violate any RIU rules?
With so many recommendations back and forth, one thing I thought of last night was to keep things simple and order from Dr. Greenthumb because he's in Canada, his gear is more readily available to me and his reputation is also solid. His Bubba OG and Girl Scout Cookies are well-reviewed and even Ed Rosenthal considers them must-try strains. There are some nice recommendations of indicas, sativas and hybrids on his blog.
The one HSC strain that caught my eye was Humboldt Dream. A handful of growers on IG seem to love it, but I'm actually scared to grow it because it can get huge when planted outdoors. Not very discrete! Their Blueberry Muffin also seems well-liked.
