Bridgelux EB Gen 2 Strip Build Attachment to Frame

Hey, I currently have a completed frame and 9 Bridgelux strips I need to attach to the frame. Originally I planned on drilling all of the holes and securing the strips to the frame using nuts and bolts. While Putting the frame together, I had a lot of trouble with my screws stripping and even had a few of the screw heads completely break off. I have drilled 14 holes so far for the frame and would need to drill 27 more for all the strips. Considering how much of a pain in the ass the first 14 were to drill, I was wondering if any of you had an easier alternative suggestion.

Also, the reason I had screws break off / strip is that the drill bit I was using was slightly smaller than the screw diameter. So I was basically threading my aluminum with the screw. On the last hole, I broke both my drill bits in a rage, but If I had just had a tap for my drill bit, it would've gone fine.

I saw videos of people using self-tapping screws, I guess I could use those if there is no better alternative. I feel like that might be the best bet for me if I want to do this correctly though.

You already know what to do as you mentioned it. Get yourself the right tap and make your build a lot easier, brutha.

3M self adhesive tape. Works wonders and no real loss in thermals if youre not running +30w per strip. Tapping for a couple of dollars strip seems antieconomic with time.

True dat. If your strips aren't going to get too overly hot on low wattage, thermal tape makes things pretty simple.

Yeah, I'm gonna be running them without a heatsink at ~1000ma. From this post https://www.rollitup.org/t/bridgelux-eb-gen-2-thermals.957453/, it seems like heat won't be too much of a problem. Also, User Chip Green says he runs all of his eb gen 2's at 1050 ma no heatsink and has fine thermals.

In that case why not use glue?

Thought about it, but I want something I can easily remove or take off. Was honestly thinking some type of velcro command strip.

After I started building the light, I realized my budget was getting eaten up very quickly because I had to buy all these tools I didn't have.
