View attachment 1107772I've got the same deal. Overnight, we got these white speckles on ONE side of the plant (one out of 25). It was right after I switched to a new fertilizer that was a 16-16-16 granulated type, from a liquid nitrogen straight grow fertilizer. I though maybe we'd splashed some water on the plant and burned that side accidentally. It's only on one main stem and the branches on that side. This is an outdoor grow in the Emerald Triangle, and I've been growing on this site for a few years now -- never had this problem before. I think it must be a nutrient granulation/chrystilization problem. Our water is extremely alkaline pH around here, but we add lots of urea and other high-acid amendments to the soil before we plant each year. Still, the pH at the top of the soil is around 8 (which is horrible, I know, so next year we'll start treating our water with vinegar). Anyhow, since it's only one branch, and I happen to know there's a big old pine tree root under this plant about 1 1/2 feet down, I'm thinking that the soil imbalance on that side of the root is causing an uptake problem on that side of the plant. There is no adverse weather here or anything like that, and all the other plants in the area are doing fine. In fact, the other side of this plant is doing fine. And it's not bugs, and it's not mildew. These are very dry bright white spots.
Anyone have any other suggestions? Next year I'm going to work harder at bringing the pH down, and see if it has a good effect.
