It was reported on TV earlier that the Russians wanted a Russian prisoner in a German prison included for Whelan.
We don't control German prisons and what would the Germans get for the deal?

Lots of negative online chatter about the Griner release coming from a certain segment of the US population. They're mad that a Black female athlete was freed after being jailed for bringing vape cartridges into Russia. All they seem to care about is that a disgraced former Marine that was caught spying didn't get released. He was kicked out of the Marines with a Bad Conduct Discharge. He was caught with a flash drive containing sensitive information which he doesn't deny.
I wish he was released just like any other American should but he's not the American Hero that many are trying to make him out to be. He's been making bad decisions most of his life. If only one prisoner was to be set free why should it have been him?

my first impulse was heartbreak. Here are a coupla what could have been solid OK guys, and they are lost because they were successfully sold on the maga delusion complex. In the long term, it will make their lives worse. I aim the disgust (and stronger negative sentiment) at the sellers of the poison.

Saw an interview with some nutcase GOP Senator and he was going on about how such a bad deal this was. His flawed logic was that pootin needs Bout because he's running out of weapons. That idiocy from the right is just appalling. There's no way that a two bit arms dealer like Bout is going to have any effect on the war in Ukraine by solving Russia's weapons issues but leave it to those guys to spread that kind of nonsense.
