Broken cotyledon Leaf

I pulled the seed of the top of my shoot and it ripped the tip of one of the cotyledon leaves will the little fella die or will it survive HELP!

The Other 1 is fine and it still has half the leaf on?? What are these leaves purpose could it survive?

sure, they will live, those are the starter leaves, their purpose is pretty much the same as any other leaf's purpose, to gather light and turn it into energy through photosynthesis.
