Harvested my crop about a week ago,(too bad bud worms got into em and i had to trim more bud away then i got) but anyways i hung the buds up, and was gettin ready to put them into jars, but remembered seein and hearin somethin about putting them into brown paper bags.

What exactly does that do? just out of curiosity
I've always hung and then cured.

brown bags is just a personal preference really, if people are used to doing it that way i guess they feel comfortable with it.. me i just dry them until they are ready for jars and jar them up and burp them daily. seems alot more natural that way, id be worried of getting that nasty ass paper bag smell on my bud but im picky as a muhfucka when it comes to my buds so ya.if you think the buds are to moist for the jar still, just let them hang a little longer, i mean, it takes like 8 weeks minimum to flower and fully ripen, so why not just let it dry out properly, after all the energy you put in to the nice buds, i know its hard cus you wanna smoke them beautiful nugs u just grew but a little extra times goes a long way ;) either way enjoy it bro :weed:

and to the poster above me ^^^^ thats exactly what an air tight jar does, it draws the moisture from the inside of the bud.. out, its called curing, use a paper bag to pack your kids lunch instead of drying dank buds with it :)

actually.. brown paper (like ones from the grocery store) bags are preferred over the plastic paper type bags.

for a reason! brown paper bags don't have any chemicals to bleed into your buds (such as bleach, with other bags contain)... which is why most people prefer to use the brown paper bags, over other types of bags. Last thing you want is chemicals from the bag bleeding into your beautiful buds.

hope that helped.
peace.

P.S. - Here's a little more information about using the bagging process.

After the marijuana buds are trimmed (and a little moist still) you would want to dry them some more in the paper bag step. The best choice would be the brown shopping bags found at a supermarkets, because they are not bleached (the stuff you don't want in your buds) This is another tricky step. Put the trimmed marijuana buds in the brown bag loosely and its best not to fill it more than 3-4 inches from the bottom. It is not necessary at this time to close the bag ( still need to prevent mildew and mold) When the buds are in the bag you would want to check every day to rotate the buds in the bag so they dry evenly. This can be achieved by shifting positions of the marijuana buds, turning them ever so often, or shaking the bag. As the buds dry they will naturally compact into the self-preserving state that is mostly desired . At this time that the buds can be more compacted together and the bag can be folded close. They should now be fully smokable, though perhaps still ! slightly moist in the middle. A big reminder that every climate differs and may take more or less time. There is nothing better than repeated, hands-on checking to prevent damage to the marijuana buds from mold and mildew.

That should pretty much tell you what you need to know. Your welcome.

peace..

it slows down the drying process for the ultimate slow dry.
this produces the best flavours possible.
you can bag them straight from the harvest.
its my process and its worked great.
just always be cautious for mold .
if you keep your eyes on the prize
keep tabs on yo buds
your yield will be mold free
