Getting to around week 5 on 2 of my plants. Noticed they aint handling there 1.5EC anymore. Gonna bring it back a bit.

You can like a comment by clicking on 'like' in the lower right of each post. There is a 'like' and 'reply' link in each post. As for ro water, I use a ro filter because my ppm out of the tap is about 350ppm. You don't need one with a ppm that low to be honest. I got mine on ebay for like $100. EC is the universal measurement for nute concentration because it does not change. When someone talks about ppm, there are 2 'scales' to take into consideration and not everyone knows what scale their ppm meter is on. The 2 scales are .500 and .700. EC is basically the .500 scale meaning if my EC is 1.0 (1000), then my ppm is 500. Most TDS meters are on the .500 scale. If someone has a .700 scale meter, the ppm would read 700 but the ec would only be 1.0. So basically, one meter shows 500 ppm, the other meter shows 700 ppm, but they are both 1.0 ec.

It only took me 3 hydro cycles to figure that out myself. My ph would drop to the low 5's and they stop drinking until I bring it back up to high 5's, low 6's. It would take me a week to remember what was going on...

EC stands for electrical conductivity and is measured in millisiemens per centimeter (ms/cm) or microsiemens per centimeter (weird u/cm).
The higher the number the more electricity can pass through the water. RO water wont pass any electricity.
It is important to use that for the reasons blackforest stated.

I put what the ph was at at the ppm levels of each plants res that's all I know and I put how much of each nutrient I feed to my plant

i bought 5 of those 5 gallon jugs. i'm 30 minutes away from wally world so i make one trip a week. i like using RO water for the simple reason that you can eliminate water as one of your potential problems. the only thing in it is what you put in it.

here's what i would do: give them just water and hydroguard for 24hrs. pH at 5.8 try to get this solution up in the netpot. dunk the whole thing in the res a few times.
start back on nutes at around 200 to 300 ppm (EC 0.4 to 0.6). so if your water is 100ppm, your final number will be 300 to 400ppm.
you have to decide if you want to do hydroguard or h2o2. can't do both.

Here's a pic of plants doing a bit better than last time I posted pic. Question. When I check my ppm level mid week is doesn't seem to be going down? What does that mean? The water level lowers and I top it off with just straight water no nutes. Ph stays stable but I figured if the plants were absorbing the nutes the ppm would go down. The plants are definately growing and doing ok? Plants in left of the pic were started later then te ones on the right

As my plants are growing larger they are starting to stretch towards eachother and its turning into a rats nest of sorts. They are autos so I'm hesitant in pruning even the lowest of branches. I think I fucked up and put my starter plug and seedling deeper in the net pot than I should have too because I have branches growing up through the hydroton and a few that are laying on the rim of the pot due to the angle at which their growing. Think it be alright to take just the lowest few branches for air flow and light to penetrate in there

Its nothing the nutes will all ways change the color of your roots..
Its nothing if you start smelling foul smrll from your reservation than it might be root rot but i highly doubt it.
