BROWN Pistols but CLEAR to CLOUDY Trichomes. Harvest????

I grew Skunk #1 once and the hairs were all brown and curled into the bud, but the trichs were clear. I found out the plants were root bound, causing an issue with the grow finishing well. It was still good pot, but didn't taste as well as it should have. The potency was decent, but could have been better. Make sure your plants aren't root bound, it will screw up the finish.
Ok. I usually plant in 3 gal pots

Yeah, depending on the size of the plant, 3 gallon pots might be too small. The root bound plants I mentioned were in 5 gallon pots buried halfway in the ground so as to not blow over from wind. The plants were six feet tall and bushy and became root bound.

Ok. Yeah mine only get at most 3 feet tall. Autos are not known for growing very tall. Thanks

Still a newbie at the whole process and learning more as things progress with my second time around. I just cut my first plant of the season and hope I didn’t do it prematurely because her buds are smaller than I anticipated.C91424F6-0B10-4DD9-91B6-B8E4C12EEBEF.jpeg Still have a tall, beautiful sativa outside with her buds fattening up. I know the drying/curing stage takes time and is different for everyone, but I’ve learned when one of the stems has a crisp/dry break that it’s ready to jar up. Is this true? And does anyone have any simple tips for drying/curing for my freshly cut indo?

Welcome , You have cut a little early. In your pic that swollen tric on the stem between the buds.If you wait they will swell out from the buds as well and help them fatten and firm up.You will still have some great fresh smoke.Sometimes snapping stem is too far dry.Feel for crispy outside bud but when you squeeze they bounce back and not mush in.Get a hygrometer and put bud in a sealed container aiming for 58-62% If its a little higher open container a time or two per day until its down to 58%smoke enjoy.

You have a while left for trics to swell and bud to get a more finished look/weight.2-3 weeks maybe IMO.

What size light are you using? Does look like you should have waited a while longer, I recently lost about a POUND when my hydro plant (under 1000 watt HPS, and using DynaGrow nutrient, in a scrog) grew buds that could not be supported by the stem and probably 85-90% snapped overnight. I was SO PROUD of her too…

I only had about 2 1/2 weeks before she was ready too…broke my heart…BUT I have some Gorilla Glue #4 that should be ready next week if these don’t snap…crazy…

It was actually outside. Haven’t tried my hand at indoor yet. I didn’t want to wait too long mostly out of fear of getting the “couch-lock” affect. I’m glad I asked, though. I really appreciate the insight. Once upon a time I’d look at someone like they were crazy when they said this shit is an ‘art’, and now see what they meant. I topped it twice, and after drying properly and curing for just 2 weeks I decided to put the fruits of my labor to the test. I was really impressed. Total yield 1 & 3/4 oz. (I know this isn’t alot), and gives an incredibly smooth high. Im sure if I’d waited, as you suggested, it would be even better. Lesson learned, and much obliged for the advice. Happy smoking!

It is DEFINITELY an art (mixed with science), it’s awesome you got what you did, not to mention what you learned. You’ll come to have a bond with your ladies, you’ll be able to look at them and know if it needs water, macronutrients, micronutrients, more light, less light (I did this too ☹)…I consider it very rewarding…

Most definitely agree. And the final product actually impressed me. Every time I burp the jars, it’s so sticky the buds stick to the side of the jar in this mass all together nice clean high, too. I sing to all of my plants and whether it helps idk, but it makes me feel better Appreciate the posi vibes. Hopefully I’ll just keep improving each year.

It was outside. Not indoors, though I regret it now.
