Brown powder

So there is a brown powdery type of fungus or mold on some of the branches. It is killing all of the leaves and buds that share the same branch. Anybody have any idea what it is? It is like a brown powder.....And how do I get rid of it?

you have russet mites..they are 20x smaller and way worse than spider mites....suphur spray may help..but russets are the WORST

isolate the plant..and pray or go do research on how to get rid of them

russet mites will kill every plant you have..this is all from first hand experience

Those are mites? Must be thousands of the little buggers. I hope I never see them, but at least I'll know what it looks like. Nice pics.

Broad Mite! Sorry, but you SCREWED. There is no known eradication for these little suckers! If you find one, let me know, will you?

yes there is/are insecticides that will work..be careful..have face mask, serious respirator. clothing , gloves , boots, not in your house or around animals especially birds...do not get any on you before its mixed..read directions if you get some..apply every three days maybe three times..becare fuot=r justrtear down and get rid of everything..a find out

Thanks. I hit them some frequency water and it pretty much destroyed them. I didn't saturate them as much as I was supposed to. Gonna give them another foliar spray of the frequency altered water and I'll keep you posted

If those are mites, (picture 1 looks like downy mildew) the picture for me is too hard to determine. If it is mildew you can lower that humidity and apply some Cease + MilStop (Bacillus subtilis and Potassium bicarbonate)

If it is in fact broad mites you may as well end this grow or suffer lots of frustration. They have potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron deficiency... Sorry =(

After that, I would spray the entire grow area with pyrethrins, followed by a rented carpet shampooer and then chuck some Hot Shot Strips in for good measure.

When you start over... make sure to include using Azamax or Azatrol as an Insect Growth Regulator. It takes 7 days to become effectively systemic, but if you continue to apply any bug that eats the plant tissue or juice will immediately become unable to eat, excrete, reproduce, molt, mutate, and their hormones are tweaked way off. That way, even if you do get bugs they are screwed somewhat. I would also use some floramite. Just don't apply it closer than 46 days from harvest.

russet mites, nuke em worked for me. now I just spray with forbid when I cut clones.

Thank you, future. I don't know if they we're russet mites. I started treating all plants with frequency water before I picked up a new scope. A buddy thinks they might have been thrips. I Removed the truly infected plants from the room(still got the treatments) and sprayed all plants down very generously for 3 days at the top of each morning. I also burned sulfur in the room on the second day. It's taken care of the problem from what I can see, even on the plants that you could tell were infected. I have better preventative schedule im about to start, it will include azamax as well. still gonna need to wipe the room and shampoo the carpets

Your wasting your time. Only things that work on russet mites are bleach, alcohol, nuke em, and forbid. Nothing else will even phase them. Azamax? They'll laugh in your face when you spray with azamax. You dont need to tear down if you spray with forbid or nuke em. Your making a way bigger deal than it really is. Yea there a bitch to get rid but its easily done with the right sprays.

Those are russet mites. I had them a few grows back. I have been growing a long time and never encountered them before. You may not always need to kill off your plants, but you will need to nuke the entire grow room and anywhere they "may" have gotten even if you cant see them. I cut everything down personally just to be safe and kill of their food source.
Buy (2) 2 oz pyrethrum foggers @ .4% pyrethrum active ingredient. They are good for up to 3000 sq ft.
Dont bother buying "Doctor Doom" brand cuz they are weak @ .04% vs .4% for the Pyrethrum foggers. They are good for up to 3000 sq ft.

1. Clean entire room from top to bottom with a 10% bleach water solution. Vacuum every square inch of the room. Mop the floors with bleach water solution as well. Be sure to wipe down and sterilize ALL equipment that was in use or in the grow room with alcohol wipes or something similar..

2. Blow off a Pyrethrum fogger in your room.
*******Be sure to do this with all fans/lights/pumps/ballasts or any other electrical item that can create a spark since the foggers have a flammable propellant.
Allow 2 hours time for the fogger to settle after going off then go in the room then turn on exhaust fans and circulating fans.

3. Repeat step 1.

4. After 3 days repeat step 2 by using the second Pyrethrum fogger. Dont clean the room after the second fogger.
The reason for the second bombing after the 3rd day is due to the fact that the pyrethrum wont kill the eggs of the few that may have still lived after the nuclear assault. When the mites get bombed like that, it is in their genetics to basically hatch their eggs as a means of survival. Bomb number 2 is what kills off everything left after bomb 1. Total eradication.

From here on out I would build a maintenance routine of 1 pyrethrum fogger every 4 weeks or so and be sure to use a neem oil spray to mist entire plants top to bottom (leaf undersides included) at least once before introducing any plants into the room. Once plants have been introduced into the room you can use the neem oil spray as a preventive about 2 times a month.

The pyrethrum foggers are safe to use in a room with plants as well since the pyrethrum wont hurt the plants -but if they are placed too close to plants, the propellant will burn the leaves. Id give about 1-2 feet distance of the fogger and any plants if possible.
You can safely use the foggers up to the last week before harvest also.
DO NOT USE THE FOGGER IN A CLOSED TENT.

Been running this for many months since my russet mite ordeal that ruined all my clones and mommas. I have a thread and pics on here somewhere showing my outbreak.
I've been free of any Russet Mites since my total nuke and maintenance program.
I hope you have the same amount of success with this as I have had.

If you have killed them with anything else short of scrapping your grow you are very lucky.

I had to scrap my veg room and my mommas. I was heart broken to say the least. I lost genetics for Kosher Kush...strong sativa genetics from Reserva Provada and also lost LA Cheese. Im on track with a tight maintenance schedule now.

they ARE russets..as was mentioned ..if have rid yourelf of them[and their eggs] with fequency water
then we are all very surprised..and its nothing short of a miracle..you need 100x to see them..
i still have nightmares
