Brown shiny spots

First off I'll admit that I have no idea what I am doing. I have read most of the tutorials, have the Growers Guide by Ed and am trying to apply what I have learned thus far. So please excuse me as I am sure this problem has been posted numerous times before; I have brown shiny spots on my leaves. The plants we germinated the week before Halloween, planted not far thereafter. These spots started to develop earlier this week. I have been having a problem with whiteflies and have been spraying them. I have fertilized the plants twice (5mls to a gallon, the gallon split between 3 plants in 5 gallon containers, altho the first time was a 1/2 treatment).
Any ideas, comments, advice would be welcome.
Thanks P

EDIT: They were planted in Miracle Grow Indoor Organic mix

miracle grow soil is pretty hot. no need to feed for 4 weeks. its nute burn. just give them a little water and let it dry it out completely. There small plants they don't need a gallon of water each time nor does the soil. so small waterings may take 4 - 5 days to dry before you should water them again. stop with the ferts. When there bigger and you start feeding them nutes do feed/dry/water/dry/water repeat.

It's a magnesium deficiency, as magnesium deficincies are mostly characterized by interveinal chlorosis which is a yellowing of the leaves between the veins with the veins remaining green. The browning spots is called marginal necrosis which is usually caused by a calcuim or magnesium deficiency.

A magnesium deficiency can be quickly resolved by watering with 1 tablespoon Epsom salts/gallon of water. Until you can correct nutrient lockout, try foliar feeding. That way the plants get all the nitrogen and Mg they need. The plants can be foliar fed using ½ teaspoon/quart of Epsom salts (first powdered and dissolved in some hot water). When mixing up soil, use 2 teaspoon dolomite lime per gallon of soil.
If the starting water is above 200 ppm, that is pretty hard water, that will lock out mg with all of the calcium in the water. Either add a 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of epsom salts or lime (both will effectively reduce the lockout or invest into a reverse osmosis water filter.
Mg can get locked-up by too much Ca, Cl or ammonium nitrogen. Don't overdo Mg or you'll lock up other nutrients.

Calcium deficiencies are difficult to distinguish visually as excess calcium may produce deficiencies in magnesium and potassium.

If you feel that you have a multiple micronutrient deficiency than I would recommend trying some Cal n Mag and even possibly some Microblast.

I'm glad you're happy now that I changed the spelling of my VERY HELPFUL post. Stay stoned man

That is not mag def (very hard to tell from Ca or Fe def) although your description of it is correct.
The bleaching is from the light when the pic was taken. It's not inter-veinal.
I suspect it's from spraying while lights are on, causing burns (droplets act as magnifying glasses)

Magnesium or Manganese deficiency, make your mind up. 2 completely different elements.
You are either dyslexic or have a lot to learn before you start giving advice.

No, it's a reply to 'Mr Know Fuck-All'.
You think Magnesium and Manganese are the same thing?
I hope you enjoy your cornflakes with a pint of mint or millets in the morning. Heck, they sound similar so surely it will be OK.
If you want to be an ignoranamus, don't get upset if people point it out.
The first rule of helping people on here is that you need to have the first clue about what you are on about.
A lot of people read these threads and want correct information.
To not even have a basic understanding of nutrients (which is a good start) and send out TOTALLY incorrect information is just plain wrong.
I just hope they don't get an iron deficiency and you suggest they buy a Tefal Superglide
To point out your own massively stupid mistake and then have a dig at me about it is a joke beyond belief.
I do this to help others, as others on here helped me. My pay-back.
If you want to learn, use this site. You need it.
P.S. The point of being on here to help IS to 'Know It All', or at least the subjects we are commenting on.

I can type faster than I think so no worries. 30 seconds wasted is not a worry.
Makes it easy.
I take it from the 'like' that you accept being wrong, in which case apology accepted.
Time to move on.

Conversation finished. Have the last word if you want. You have made enough of a prat of yourself already. Too many intelligent people I could be conversing with instead. I haven't got another 30 seconds to waste on you and I won't lower myself. Good day to you sir. Enjoy your magnetic magical magna carta mix and I hope you manage to grow a seedling. P.S. don't forget which one is soil and which is water. (the soil is the brown stuff, water comes out of the tap)

First off I would like give thanks for everyones help! The nut or water burns would be consistent with what I have been doing (I did splash a bit on the leaves). I do have a few black spots on another plant that doesnt seem to be growing (or not very quickly). But thats for another post! Thank you again. P

Thanks received nicely. Not a worry. That's what we're here for. Personally, I am only paying back what I owe, so we all move forwards together. Keep going and one day I guarantee you will be answering a question I have.
