browning leaves please help :(

First time grower here...complete newb.

3 plants (fruitpunch) 2 and a half weeks old
Medium=coco coir
Nutes =GH floranova part
Ph= between 5.5 and 5.8
Cfl setup using 5 23w daylights and 2 23w soft white
Feeding at 1/4 strength every other watering
On a 20-4 light schedule


Was going great until about a week ago...not sure if its nute burn or the lights are too close or anything else. Any help is grwatly appreciated

Coco is not a good medium for a noob. It's got some complex issues regarding cation exchange and nutrient retention. Regarding your plants...all the necrosis is in the leaf tips. Plus the plants are very small and sensitive.

But assuming the coco was properly rinsed and buffered...lets just assume you gave nutes too early. Also take a close look at your water. Using tap or RO water? If you are using RO water, you surely should be adding calmag.

So give the coco a flush and then feed with just water and in a week, resume nutes maybe even at a lower level. Then ease up gently as the plant grows.

Blah I know, I barely even knew what coco was until someone mentioned it to me. I did a little research. And I gave it a good rinse. At least I think I did. I think it was the nutes. Youre right, I think I fed it too early. Im using tapwater. gonna try flushing and ill update soon. Thanks for the help man!

not necessarily true. It has been shown that when running dyna. calmag is not needed. In fact it can be detrimental I have found. been running ro water with dg and zero cal mag and having splendid results.

Thanks for that. I was specifically referring to the OP Backwood's situation which is coco which tends to retain cations and specifically Ca and Mg. If your advice is correct for coco, please post so Backwoods can skip the Calmag (and save some money)...

I have zero experience with coco. always in hydroton for me. Homebrewer is the resident expert on dyna. He may have more pertinent info regarding this medium.

Hey, I say DO add calmag to your flush water and to your watering regiman once you start feedling again. In the future, if you see that super dark green...that will clue you in early to overfeeding. That's what "reading the plant" is all about.
