Bubble hash flavor: does it make a difference in how you stir it?

No, this time I used the 120, 73 & 25 ( left out the 160). I just ordered a 90 on Amazon yesterday to replace the 120, I think. May use all four.
It kind of depends on strains as far as head size goes as well as indoor/outdoor growing like jimmip said. Until you know your strain and what it yields, use all your bags on your first wash then discontinue using the bags that didn't catch any trichs on your following washes. I was using the 120 AND the 90, but found i wasnt catching much in the 90 so i dropped the 90 and just let the 73 collect. 45 can be full melt tasty stuff while the 25 can be green, broken and immature heads ime. I dont really mess around with 25 but if i did, it would be for edibles.

The trick to hash is to find a method and stick to it. With a little practice using the same method, you'll be a master after a few runs. I have a list of everything i need written out the night before, with everything ready to go so I can start first thing in the morning. And definitely do yourself a favor and buy yourself a washer.

I meant the cooler. Doesnt the dry ice crack the plastic?

What I would give to have a local source for dry ice. I have to get it from the local grocery store on freight days. The guys meet me out back and trade me boxes of dry ice for weed, lol
Not so far but it is only a 15 minute ride to my deep freeze

ahh ok. Gotca.
I put it in a tote once and couple minutes later I heard a bunch of load pops. It busted thru the bottom and even cracked/burned the rubber floor mat it was on. I looked into one of those specialized dry ice coolers to keep in my truck for when we venture into the city but they're way too expensive for few times a year I run fresh frozen.

This threads making me want to dig the bubble bags out. Its been a while since I've done a run.

You need an insulator, like a few paper bags, under it. When I have bought dry ice it was in plastic then a couple paper bags. That kept it from getting a bunch of water condensing and freezing to the plastic bag too.

I've found a thick cardboard box works best. I stuff all the empty space around the ice with whatever I have on hand...usually tons of that brown packing paper they use for shipping or just old towels. For dry ice, air is the enemy rather than temps. Using the cardboard, I've had it last up to three days but you have to wrap it up tight.

You know I am numb to it but I just realized the cooler I use is one of those thick foam ones from Omaha steaks

You really should be using the 220, 190 and 160. If not to catch any of the large 160 trichomes, at least to filter out the other, undesirable plant matter. The 220, 190 and 160 are there for a reason. It will help your end product considerably.
The screen sizes you're using are what a person would use to polish dry sift. And even then I would want the 160 first.

You're gonna want a 45 bag...For me, the 45 and 73 are the best. 25 I let go right down the drain. 90 is decent, 120 is food grade.

If you have a place that sells welding gas in your town, they probably sell dry ice. We have Airgas here, and some Walmart's sell it.

The difference between fresh and old is like day and night though...I also press fresh rosin, and sometimes I'll press some old bud. It usually taste's nasty. Still gets you high, but the taste isn't there. In contrast I just pressed some freshly dried outdoor grown this year, and it had the best smell and taste when it came out the press. It does degrade over time.

I also just tried something I never have before, I found a year old bag of bud vacuum sealed. Really nice stuff but NO smell. Using a tiny mister, I misted it with pine terpenes i had from making THC oil...I read someplace about doing this. Gotta say, it smells amazing now, but I have not yet tried it. I'm not expecting miracles, and that certainly wouldn't help for making hash.

I agree about the 45 and anything in-between that and 160. I'll use the 72 but I like everything 160-45. The 25 when dry can just be put in with alcohol washes or whatever too.

I realize this is an old thread, but it took until the other day for me to find the answer.

It IS the product. We made a batch of fresh frozen after this last one, and it was great tasting!

Last week we made another batch with last years’ (the same as before) and it tastes and smells awful again. So, I’m sure that’s what it is. The problem is that I still have 31 oz left from 2020. I really can NOT throw all of that out. I have to use .35+ grams of hash at bedtime every night to sleep, so I NEED all I have. This year, even though I had four strains, only produced 38.5 oz total. ( I used 44 oz last year, so if I threw out last years’ I wouldn’t have enough to go until next years’ crop was harvested).

I’ve decided to rotated back and forth, using old and new. Otherwise, if I only used the old stuff, by the time I got to the 2021 crop, it would be old too…..so, that’s my plan. I’ll have a month of good-tasting hash, and a month of awful stuff.

BUT, my real plan is to make hash caps anyway and it won’t matter :). I’ve got another learning curve ahead of me…….at my age that’s never easy, but I keep trying. :p
