You could go sea of green on veg, then bloom one huge layer. I have had pretty good luck super cropping also.

the ice chest is all set in place as the new resivoir, this thing is perfect. i'll post pics later.

i've been looking at the SOG style but still need to do a bit of research. the thought of ordering some more seeds has crossed my mind too... not sure which way to go... i want the easiest.:peace:

i ordered 5 fem papya and 5 fem ppp from nirvana, the last few times i've ordered from them they got them to me in less than a week.

need to get another water pump in the morning, just adding 6" of head presure shut it down and the water temps in the buckets were 92f. this should be the last piece of equipment i need to buy.

Looking great. Do you have any issues with algae in the orange buckets?
its good you got that water chiller if u didnt u would of got some algae or some fungi problems trust me been there done that but all you have to do to prevent that is keep the res temps under 70 i suggest 60 f because the water tends to hold more water around 60 f. Any ways i would cover those orange buckets with black duct tape and you should get a bigger yield.

any suggestions on how to train, pinch, cut or anything else for this 1 plant to turn into a bush and take the closet over?[/QUOTE] You should try fimming it or topping the plant so you get 4 main colas but i guess if u prefer it to be bushy fim it look at uncle bens topping or fimming I learned alot off that and got huge yields

I had same issue. But wasnt running a chiller. I now have orange buckets with black duct tape and no real issue with algae bloom sucking up the o2

what do you all think?

the first pic, 3 plants almost ready for the chopping block, they had a real hard life dealing with a noobie to the water world.
the 2nd is a pic of the future star of the show, she is a snow white fem seed from nirvana.
the 3rd is my new resivoir, and the last one is just a pic of a greasy bud.

well yesterday was a glorious day in the neighborhood, got everything out of the way to start this grow and the post lady delivered a package from nirvana, a big rep to them for some speedy shipping. i ordered sunday and here on saturday.

anyway i got the 1 snow white fem seedling under the 1000 mhs and right now it's getting straight water from the tap ph'd to 5.8 with a water temp of 68. 2 of the papaya seeds are in rapid rooters in another bucket getting germinated. i'm just going with 3 plants. i'll get some pics up later and decribe how i have the pumps and everything else setup. i feel confident with this setup, but don't be shy, if you see something, let me know.:peace:

this pic shows the resivoir, the 2 green hoses are the intake/out take for the chiller. it is being pumped with a 500 gph pond pump. the clear 1/2" tube is having water pumped to a diy manifold that splits 3 ways into each bucket.

in this pic you can see the manifold and the 3/8" hose goes into a hole near the top of the bucket.

i drilled 2 holes as close to the bottom of the buckets as i could and i used a hot glue gun to melt 1/2" barbed fittings into place, these are all connected together and goes into the drain of the ice chest to maintain water level.

just a shot of the closet

here's the little snow white. see the bug damage, aphids. the closet got bombed last night and she got douched with some raid yard and garden spray.

papaya seeds being germinated, i have a plate that i cover the top of the basket with. 100% sucsess rate for me.

not much to update on. the little snow white is getting pale green from lack of food but the root system is healthy and white. trying to let these papayas catch up so all 3 plants can grow together. i was checking out a pretty good thread by wooodsman (i think that was his/her name) all about scog, between that and uncle ben's topping technique i've got some pretty good ideas on my mind.

after a lot of thinking i'm going to get rid of the 3 buckets and use the original 27 gal tote i had for a resivoir. less hoses = less chances of leaks. i'll post pics after i change them out.

TDS is easy.

Ive just spent the last four days trying to wrap my brain around the chiller option and if I should just stay simple or scrap the buckets and buy a big ass rubbermaid tote. Dont even get me started on why every time I tell my wife something new Im gonna build for the closet she gives me "the your an idiot look".

I love that set up you have it is wicked versatile.

i ended up using 2- 12", 10- 5", and 1- 5" round airstones, the 5 inchers are plugged together 2 at a time to make 5- 10 inchers. i've got some bubbles rippling the water in this contraption. after filing it up with 21 gallons of tap water i added 30 ml each of flora gro, micro, and bloom. what's everyones thought about getting the rest of the general hydroponic lineup, Floralicious Grow, Diamond Nectar, Floralicious Bloom, FloraBlend, FloraNectar, and Liquid KoolBloom. my first and only harvest using hydro was real light compared to my soil grows and just used the 3 i fed tonight. i really think my small yeild was from not being able to control the water temps. let me know if you've used the general hydro extras and whether or not you thought it was worth the money.

hey buzz, i know what you mean about the wife and stupid looks, but i love her anyway. btw, she doesn't smoke. the chiller wasn't an option for my grow, the water temps were in the 90's. i was cooking weed root soup. have you got a good link for using the tds?

water temps are easier maintained with this setup, went from keeping the thermostat set at 58 to 65. i've tried to do some research on the nutes i was asking about and all i seen was stuff written by general hydroponics. so i'm thinking for the 100 bucks that it will cost to buy the lineup, it is worth the gamble.
