So i am currently about to start my first grow, ive invested a good grand in my set up.

including

400w hps/mh
Wardrobe
435 cfm fan
170 cfm fan
bubbleponics set up from stealth hydro
cfls for seedlings
Tools
etc..

The question im pondering is, should i just jump into the bubbleponics on my first grow or should i just do a soil grow for the first time?

Ive read rosemans diy bubbleponics thread 3 times and it still seems alittle overwhelming. I mean im down to read it 10 times if thats what it takes to understand it.

Just seems like alot of work for a begginer, Whats your guys opinions?

I have ample amount of seeds and have invested good money, what should i do?

i use soil and a drip system .i've used dwc, nft, ebb and flow and the drip to waste is by far the easiest set up i've used. i set up a 4x8 plywood on 2x4 rails on 6 5-gal buckets. i use a clear plastic corrugated from home depot and drain into 40 gal res. have one table at each end or side by side(depending on space) use equal length drip tubes to insure even flow to each plant and you're set. i avg 2lbs per 1000 watt and have 2 1000's over each 4x8. i use less nutes than with any other sytem.

^ thanks for the advice, i dont think i have enough space for a 40 gal resivor and what not.

Im confined to a wardrobe, 6 1/2 feet tall, 2 feet deep, 3 1/2 feet wide

i use the rubbermaid roughnecks for rez's they're cheap and come in different sizes. i use bigger cause i have 18 plants on each 4x8. just scale down to your size!

Dude you already have the SH setup, just use it. I am using the same and it isn't any harder than any other method. Just keep the PH in check and follow the instructions for the nutes. If you have questions there is plenty of people that will answer any questions you may have.

Ya i guess your right, im gonna try the bubbleponics set up, Do you use testing strips? or do you have a ppm/ph meter?

Jump straight in to hydro. It's superior to soil growing, and I don't care what anyone says. DWC is where it's at in my opinion, but bubbleponics is cool too.

It may seem overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it. Just keep reading and learning. Getting the equipment and getting started is the first step. You'll learn from there. Go for it.

And if you doubt what I say about soil grows, just read the newbie threads and check out all the problems they have with their soil grows. It's very hard to control soil compared to hydro... I consistently read the same problems over and over with soil growers. I don't see the same issues with hydro. If you buy the correct reservoir, and understand how to use it, get the correct nutes, and use them correctly, and understand how pH works, and keep your system running at the correct pH level, you will have a successful grow!!! And with hydro, when you have problems, like pH being high or low, or a nutrient problem etc, it is a lot easier to diagnose and fix it than it is with soil...That's my opinion though... I'm sure many people will disagree with me. and that's fine. We all have our opinions on the subject of soil vs. hydro... :-)

Go with your current setup and don't give it a second thought. The only thing you want to do is check your PH daily with a hyrdo setup and this is easy to get in the habit of. You only need to worry about PPM when you adjust your nutrients and that is only every couple of weeks.

I did soil grows ages ago and got back into the hobby to deal with anxiety/sleep issues--I went hyrdo based on input from a friend and haven't looked back.

Now if I happened to live on a large plot of land with room to grow outdoors, I would think about soil again, but for my current indoor grow status, hydro really is a great medium.

The only suggestion for you would be to pick an easy strain for your first time. I went with Diesel Ryders (auto) for my first hyrdo grow as I heard they were forgiving and this was spot on. I had bumps in the road, but everything turned out great.

you pretty much answered your question by purchasing the bubbleponics system, best advice i can give is don't do add anything crazy to the res unless you are ready to start over. it's pretty much takes care of itself. good luck

Dude watch the stuff on youtube form what I have seen even cheap setup work well even with people that seem like they don't have a clue. There is 1 "real nigga" (his words not mine) He sounds pretty silly but has some decent plant with a cheap ass setup. Also after youtube you will probaly be pissed on how much you spent unless you can't get that stuff locally

Well my set up was $100, ya i probably could have done it for cheaper. But the way i figure is, i make $15 an hour, it would have taken me atleast 2 hours to figure out what i need and where to go to get it, not to mention there are no hydro shops out here so i still would have had to order stuff online anyways, so it probably would have cost me more time then its worth. Not to mention ive already spent days upon days building my wardrobe and getting supplies and what not, so it was really just a convienence thing.

So just to update you guys, ive got the bubbleponics all set up and going. ive started germinating 3 seeds, going with Master Kush Ultra, Hash Plant Haze, Lemon Skunk. The Mk Ultra has already cracked and ive put it in the rockwool.

I started with DWC/bubbleponics. I got tired of maintaing my water level everyday so i made a flow and drain/dwc/bubbloponics system. Now all i have to do is keep an eye on the rez and wehn it gets low to where my water pump is exposed i just refill her up! Water level stays the same at all times where the plants are. I have it hooked up in my veg room now since the weekend and it is running sweet. In the rez i have a airstone and i have 2 more stones in the tray with the plants so i all ways have a good supply of oxygen in the water. Since this was my first grow i did some things that i will not do again like my plants are all different sizes and they got my tent looking crazy (i am in my 4th week of flowering also). I have 2 White widows that veged for 9 weeks and 1 was topped and 1 was not so 1 is smaller than the other, but that will let me know the difference in yeilds. I also have 2 more WW but they only veged for 4 weeks. I had to get a stand to get them up to the light. I also have this bubblegum plant that if it giets me an ounce id be happy cause i did her badly in her life! I am going to build the same syytem for the tent this weekend. I swear when i get stoned i come up with the ideas! Once i get this thing set up i am going to put in the screen and try to get everything even in there.

I kinda went off subject but yeah i never used soil and never plan to. Hydro is a lot less work when you hook it up right. And plus id rather spill water than a lot of soil! And i spill all the time.....
